Classic Dean Martin.
This album reminds me of my childhood in the 1960s when my parents and their friends played Dean on the Stereo.

First Fruit of Sony/Legacy Relationship
Like his compadre Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin’s back catalog is split between two labels: Capitol (1948 to 1961) and Reprise (1961 to 1978). Official compilations of Dino’s Capitol output first appeared on compact disc in 1989, while his Reprise era recordings began transitioning to the digital age a decade later in 1998; I use the term ‘official’ because budget collections of material from both labels have been issued on foreign labels since the late-1980s. EMI-Capitol licensed Martin’s Reprise catalog in 1998 and reissued those albums as ‘twofer’ CDs on the Collector’s Choice Music imprint between 2001 and 2002; however, those releases are out of print. Subsequently, Reprise tracks have featured on several official compilations, paired with Martin’s earlier Capitol recordings.Sony Music acquired Martin’s Reprise catalog in 2014 and “The Essential Dean Martin” is the first collection created from that arrangement. Disc 1 opens with five Capitol cuts—the inclusion of these tracks is unnecessary but not unwelcome. After that, a few of Martin’s overlooked, non-charting singles from the early-1960s are presented. As fans will know, Martin scored a huge comeback in 1964 with “Everybody Loves Somebody”, and he issued his best work in the wake of that hit single. One of my favorite LPs while growing up was the 1968 Reprise collection “Dean Martin’s Greatest Hits! Volume 1”; quite happily, 11 of the 12 songs on that album are included here (along with 9 of the 12 tracks from Volume 2). Although the collection skips over the crooner’s studio efforts from the 1970s, it does include “Drinking Champagne” from Dino’s final album, released by Warner Bros. in 1983.The sound quality of “The Essential Dean Martin” is excellent throughout, and the booklet includes a brief bio and details for each track. While few artist retrospectives are perfect, this double CD of Dino’s Reprise recordings is recommended for both casual listeners and dedicated collectors.

Great Dean Martin collection (Track Listing)
This is a very nice 2-disc collection of Dean Martin's greatest songs. The sound on the CD is wonderful! An insert provides a brief chapter of Martin's career accomplishments by actor James Ritz as well as several color photos. The songs are also listed and includes the date it was recorded, the album it first appeared on and the peak position it achieved on the Billboard charts. The songs on the CD are listed in chronological order. I could not find a track listing anywhere before I purchased this so I will provide it here.Disc 1That's AmoreSwayMemories Are Made of ThisInnamorataVolareFrom The Bottom Of My HeartSenza FineTik-A-Tee, Tik-A-TayWho's Got The Action?Baby-OC'est Si BonCorrine, CorrinaFace In The CrowdLa GiostraEverybody Loves SomebodyThe Door Is Still Open To My HeartEvery Minute, Every HourYou're Nobody Till Somebody Loves YouYou'll Always Be The One I LoveSend Me The Pillow You Dream OnDisc 2(Remember Me) I'm The One Who Loves YouHoustonBumming AroundI WillSomewhere There's A SomeoneCome Running BackA Million And OneNobody's Baby AgainIt Just Happened That Way(Open Up The Door) Let the Good Times InLay Some Happiness On MeLittle Ole' Wine Drinker, MeIn The Chapel In The MoonlightI Can't Help Remembering YouIn The Misty MoonlightYou've Still Got a Place in My HeartA Place in the ShadeI Take A Lot of Pride In What I AmDrinkin' ChampagneThe Things We Did Last Summer

Brings back memories!
As a child of the 60's, I remember certain records my Mother used to spin on a regular basis. Dean being one of them. The Essential Dean Martin is a very nice collection of 40 of his songs. Certain artists, Dean included, could have done just about any song, and it would sound pretty good. The unique style in his voice added to any song and I just have to give it a listen. As always, not all songs I remembered and loved as a kid are here. One of my all-time favorites by Dean is "The Glory of Love" from the Matt Helm movie "The Silencers". I did find that one on the "Cool then, Cool now" CD + Book collection. If you like or love Dean Martin music, I definitely would recommend this one. Most of his popular songs are on this 2 CD set. And the sound quality is great also. If you're one that likes to get "Greatest Hits" collections of popular singers, "The Essential Dean Martin" is great for that too!
