At least since the Galaxy S3, this particular type of phone case has become one of the more common and less expensive options for phone protection. There is now a version for the Galaxy S5 and it looks and works exactly the same as the previous versions. This is a good thing because the case does a good job of protecting the phone and also because it's very inexpensive. And you need it to be. More on that in a moment.The case consists of three parts, and this is true for all the variants I've seen for several different phone models. First, a silicone wrapper or backer for the phone itself, then a hard plastic frame that hold the silicone piece, and finally a belt holder that receives the plastic frame. You can also just carry the phone in a pocket instead of using the belt clip. The case does not add to much bulk. All of these parts work well together when some care is taken putting them on the phone. Fit problems, in my experience, are all due to technique, not materials.However, materials are also the key flaw: in using these cases with a Galaxy S3, I found that the case would usually fail after 30-60 days, usually when the belt clip portion breaks. It is clearly a weak point, upon which you are trusting your very expensive device, so you should always be aware of the phone and whether it's fallen off. Occasionally the plastic frame will crack but that was not common for me.Even with that flaw, I still highly recommend this case for a simple reason: It does a good job protecting the phone and it's very cheap. There is no better protection for a phone until you get into much more expensive cases. My advice is to find the cheapest version you can on Amazon, which should be about three bucks each, and buy about 5-10 of them. Many vendors sell these cases. You can safely shop by price. A supply of 5-10 should last more than the life of the device. Even if you go through one case every couple months, you will still spend less than if you got one Otterbox or similar cases -which by the way have their own problems but cost a lot more.And important for the S5, this case is completely water compatible just like the phone.

The case itself is such a disappointment. Really it could be decent, but the silicone is far too loose and flexible. It falls off the S5 while coming out of the holster, and isn't improved by even mild use. It's just not a good fit and the hard plastic back doesn't lock it onto the phone properly. Also the kickstand is too hard to use without feeling like you are going to break it.For this alone I would give it 1 star (not worth your time or money). HOWEVER - the holster redeems the phone. It fits PERFECTLY with the Spigen Slim Armor case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I3UWGJW/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and holds it both securely and makes it easy to retrieve. Seriously, if Spigen produced this holster, I would have bought it alone for this price. The holster has a standard belt swivel with detents to with normal 15 degree stop points with strong clasp. It also has a kickstand to hold the clasp open that will serve as a decent stand, but with the Spigen case, you can't put the phone completely in the holster with the screen forward. You can, however, use it as a stand by resting the phone on the bottom. So it's a useful alarm clock or maybe even video use, but the phone seems like it could flip out easily.Anyway - the case is junk. BUT, if you, like me, found the Spigen Slim Armor to be the best case for the S5, the holster here is tip top. Giving it a 3 overall based on that fact alone. Otherwise, don't buy.

I previously had the "Aduro Shell Holster Combo Case for Samsung Galaxy S5" I really like the function of that one, but it broke and I decide to try this one. This one definitely has better damage protection. They are using a rubbery material as a lining to protect against sudden impact. That's all fine, but the hard shell does not extend on the bottom. That combined with the rubbery grip sides makes it very difficult to remove from the holster when clipped to my belt. Works fine if you can pull it exactly straight up- very difficult when hanging on your side. I get my phone in and out constant, so this is extremely irritating to me. I will be acquiring a different case. My wife has offered to take it since she wouldn't normally use the holster. We will see....Update: The image shown here on Amazon shows the phone sitting facing out inside the holster with the clip acting as a kickstand. The clip does have capability of acting as a stand but the phone will never fit inside the holster facing out with the shell attached- the design has a curve on rear edges that is not on the front. So that functionality isn't possible. The shell has a separate kickstand that functions fine.Update: A company that cares- they wanted me to be happy and offered me a replace of another style of my choice. Even though the original unit had some shortcomings, I give it 5 stars for the customer service.

This is a great case for the money. The color is a little brighter than what is pictured on the site, but that doesn't bother me much. The button covers are thin enough that they still work fine. I have no issues with the charger fitting into the hole in the case. I don't use headphones, so that is not an issue for me. I like that the case is silcon rubber with a hard case. The flip out support is nice, though I don't use it much. This case keeps my camera lens protected from surface wear. I have not had problems with slipping or dropping. It came with a stylus and screen protector, both of which I didn't use. The holster is nice and has a strong clip. If it wasn't so hard to get the case to slide out of the holster, I would give this case 5 stars. Maybe over time and use, this will loosen up for me...we shall see. It has been a great case so far, and I would recommend it for light protection for your s5!!
