Modkat Flip Litter Box – Front-Entry Design with Integrated Liner System (White)

This one is by far the most solid feeling litter box I’ve bought and I’ve had several different kinds and brands in the past two years trying to find something that my finicky cat would accept. The one box I kept going back to every time my cat decided she didn’t like a new litter box was that blue Vanness XL litterbox, I really liked the size and how tall the entrance is as my cat always pees facing the front and tends to pee on my bed or couch if she feels the litter box is too dirty with smaller boxes. The ModKat box takes up an almost exact amount of space but is actually slightly larger on the inside, not to mention it is a far nicer looking in its simplicity and far easier to clean daily with its foldable top- great if you’re in a very small space like me. In order to clean the blue box the top needs to be removed completely which meant putting it on my ottoman or couch to prevent my dogs stealing and destroying the filter sponges. The entrance is just a smidge lower on the ModKat than the blue one, but hardly noticeable. I am not a litter box liner fan, I did try it on just to see how it would sit and didn’t like how it sagged on the sides. I can imagine that my cat would easily destroy it as she spends a good few minutes scratching and pawing at the sides after using the box. I also don’t see how it would make it easier to clean, there are no handles to lift it out so if you’re using heavy clay litter it could slip out of your grasp. You’d have to wash it and dry it the same as you would with the litter box itself if you weren’t using a liner. The two things I don’t like are those little raised sides right at the corner (I’m hoping it doesn’t make those spots harder to get the clumping litter out of) and that it didn’t have a more protective packaging. For as much as it costs it would suck to have it be crushed or broken during delivery. Bonus: if you have a litter genie the ModKat scoop is works better than the one that comes with the genie and it fits in the basket well enough. All that said I still think it’s overpriced at over $100 once you’ve added up taxes, I bought mine while on sale and it still was almost $97. For comparison the blue one is a bit over $20 plus tax.

I got my first cat about 5 months ago. He's a big boy, very tall, so I knew I needed an extra large box. I debated the cost vs durability of stainless steel, plastic, automatic, and Modkat boxes. Part of my dilemma is the location for the litter box means it is visible to guest. I ended up buying a plastic jumbo hooded litter box. It was a great size for him but it was very cumbersome when I had to change the litter. It was also awkward in the only space I can keep it because it was so wide. I I could already see grooves in the bottom of the box from scratching (my big boy is very neat and tidy in his toilet) which meant I would likely have to buy a new one at least once a year. At almost $45, I realized if I bought another, I would already have spent the cost of the Modkat. So I went for it and hoped for the best. So far, I'm extremely impressed. It was packed well, super easy to put together - just pop the lid on. It's a great size, plenty of room for my big fella. I do have to keep the lid folded back once so he can squat and have room for his head, which is fine. The size is actually a little bigger than my old box in length and height, but just an inch shorter in width which makes it fit in the space much better. I also noticed a lot less litter scatter outside the box. I'm not certain why, but I'm thinking the higher entrance helps some of it fly off in the box? Who knows but I'm happy about that. It's easier to change the litter, I just have to lift out the liner, put a fresh one on, then dump the old litter, and clean the liner. I'm assuming a liner will last roughly as long as the plastic box which would mean that I should not have to replace the liners anymore frequently than I would a plastic litter box, and the 3 pack is about $30 vs a $45 litter box. If the liners don't hold up as well as I hope, that will not be ideal but still not a deal breaker. The whole set up is easy, clean, and looks a lot nicer.

Well-constructed, easy to assemble. I like the fact that the liner is reusable, eliminating the need to replace a plastic liner every two weeks. The box is tall, and the liner covers the walls, which is great for a cat that tends to urinate on the side walls. The flip up lid makes cleaning easier. Our cat adapted well to the change and is able to enter and exit without any difficulty. All in all, very satisfied with a well-made product.

I’ve bought so many different types of litter boxes, none I’ve been really happy with until now. This is such a great litter box. Strong sturdy plastic but lightweight to carry. Wasn’t sure how I would feel about the liners but it’s so great. Easy to clean and perfect for my cat who is a high pee-er. No seams, no disgusting leaks. I clean the box daily and I use flushable cat litter which makes clean up even easier. In addition I use a pet safe natures miracle litter box deodorizer. No perfect box and litter exists. You have to suck it up and clean them daily. But this litter box is as close to perfect as they come. Decent size for my adult cat, easy for him to maneuver. Best of all, Mr. Benadryl is content with it.

This litterbox is great! It’s a bit taller than an average XL litterbox but also not as long. One thing I love about this is the high walls with no separation. I have a cat that loves to pee standing up, and because of that some would leak out through the separations of my old litterbox. No problems anymore! It’s also very easy to clean with the top being able to fold up. My only reason for giving 4 star is the price. As much as I love it, the price did sting when making the purchase. Overall, if you have the money I would highly recommend especially if you have a cat who pees standing up!

My cats like to kick their litter up into the air, but they refuse to use an enclosed litter box. So for the last couple of years I had been putting their small litter tray inside a large cardboard box to stop the scatter. It was finally time to upgrade when the cardboard box was scratched up and tattered... The high walls and the flip-top lid make it very cat friendly. Instead of putting the litter directly into the tarp lining (I wasn't sure how they would react to the feeling of the tarp under their paws), I decided to place their old litter tray inside. The familiarity of their old litter tray made it very easy for them to transition into the new litter box without any issues. I could probably remove the small litter tray in time, but for now its pretty easy to lift it out to clean, and then just shake the crumbs of litter out of the tarp lining. All in all, I love this litter tray so much. Worth every penny. My cats love it too.

I like being able to remove and disinfect liner. I keep two liners so that I can soak the dirty one in cleaner and replace with clean one. I’ve a very fussy Siamese cat who won’t use a litter box unless it’s really clean!

I would give this 10 stars if I could! It is perfect for me for for several reasons. It is deep, well made and very easy to scoop. The bag system makes wasteful and ill-fitting plastic box liners unnecessary. The sturdy bags provided are easy to wash in my apartment's small sink. The charcoal filter in the lid is really helpful--I use a walnut natural litter, scoop twice a day and there is zero oder. In my small city apartment, the cat box is in a hall closet, with the door open unless we have people over so this is very important to us! I use a large Large Litter Genie with it which also keeps all oders enclosed and lets me throw that bag away just once a week or more. I love it's utilitarian, un-fussy design and foldback hood option--the plastic is sturdy--it is worth every penny. Finally, it comes with a very simple cardboard cat toy, basically a cardboard box with cutouts and a little ball inside--my cat loves this! He was a stray and is just learning to play--this box is teaching him to love interactive play! I feel very grateful to this company for really thinking through their product--I'm sure you have made many kitties happy--and their owners!
