Eyeshadow Base Primer, Skin Tone

I was a long time user of Lancome Les Aquatique shadow primer...the best I've found. I just couldn't afford the price now, even though the product lasts a long time. I found this shadow primer works really well for a much much lower price. I still love Lancome's the best but honestly this Nyx substitute for the price is a great alternative. I was a National Makeup Artist for Lancome for 10 years. I was very familiar with product of other lines too. Depending on your skin tone, you can use this nude shadow base to even out upper eyelid tone and wear alone without shadow. Add mascara and you're out the door. It makes a big difference and is a fast easy way to look refreshed, pretty, and professional when you want something minimal. As a shadow base it will help keep shadow in place & last longer, and make application better. (I really prefer this product over the other Nyx shadow primer in a tube...not happy with that one.) I love this product at a fantastic price point, and it does last a long time. I just bought 4 of this base because Im always paranoid about cosmetic lines discontinuing my favorite products! So I buy multiples of my favorites. You can always store the extras in a ziplock bag in the produce drawer of your fridge!

I actually bought two eye shadow base colors - the skin color and the white pearl. I prefer the skin color because it matches my skin tone pretty well. The white pearl is advertised to "maximize iridescent effect." However, it really adds glitter to your eyeshadow color and makes it shimmery, which is good for going out at night but harder to wear in the daytime. I will probably purchase the white base next time instead of the white pearl, since I have a tendency to use lighter eyeshadow colors. Anyway, I've only used the Too Faced eyeshadow primer before, and I honestly didn't think it helped make my eyeshadow color more prominent, so I always dismissed primers as a waste of money. I thought concealer was enough to serve as a base for my eye color. However, I started looking into primers again since I was frustrated about how my eyeshadow kept blending in with my Asian skin tone and the colors were lost. I was thinking of purchasing the Urban Decay primer potion until this product caught my eye, especially since the Urban Decay primer is pretty pricey. This is one of the best makeup products I've ever purchased. It really does make my eyeshadow colors more pigmented. I've only used MAC eyeshadows, which are pretty pigmented as it is, but these make the colors stand out vividly. It also allows for long-lasting wear. I put on my eyeshadow at 7 AM and by the time I get home at 7 PM, my makeup still hasn't worn off. You do not need to put a lot on, since this is just the base, but the product just glides on very smoothly. You really should only put on a tiny amount to avoid creasing anyway. It is a hundred times easier to put on my eye makeup now. I'm pretty sure the base will last me a really long time, but I will definitely repurchase when it runs out.

I purchased the NYX eyeshadow base as an alternative to the Urban Decay Primer Potion - mostly because I HATE the genie bottle design and the price tag was a little high for a product I had to cut open to get the full use out of. Overall, I am happy with the NYX. It's easy to use and apply and I love the little pot packaging. With the Primer Potion, I was using the wand to scoop out the product and put it on my finger so that I could apply it. The pot is much more practical and efficient. The NYX also stayed in place all day long, and kept my eyeshadow from smudging and creasing throughout the day. The formula is creamy and not too thick, and doesn't feel heavy or tacky on my eyes. The only drawback for me is the color of the NYX. The skin tone is more yellow - like a concealer, and it does work great for hiding the small veins on my eyelids. However, it tends to change the color of my light, pearly eyeshadows - just a bit. It's not a huge difference and it won't stop me from using it. I do like the color of the Primer Potion a little better, but for the price, the NYX is a great alternative!

I usually never write an actual review, but I love this product so much. I love wearing colorful eyeshadow and this product makes a great base for those colors. In my included photos, I applied that eye make up 7.5 hours ago, before work, and it still looks bright and in place. No creasing, or minimal at worst. However, I use this for more than just eyelid primer. If you can't tell in the photo, I have bright purpley under eyes bc I am a messy gremlin who hates to sleep at night. After I apply my face primer in the morning , I use this clever little pot to cover my under eye and upper eye lid. It provides some color correcting and a great sticky base for some light foundation and powder. I have very thin, crepey eye skin and I do end up with a few creases no matter what by the end of the day. I think this product helps keep that to a minimum and provides me with that little slight color correction I need. 100% recommended for purchase!!

Makes a good canvass on which to apply eyeshadow so it adheres better than to naked skin. However, the petroleum product eventually seeps through and seems to accentuate the oily crease which is what I want to minimize through the use of a good eyeshadow base. This product is packaged well in a pot. I like being able to get to it easily with my finger and not have to deal with a tube where product is wasted when it is nearly empty. For the price, it is a good value. However, there are better eye primer products out there if you are willing to pay more.
