D'Addario Accessories Small Instrument Humidifier

These work as advertised.

This is a great way to keep a smaller wooden instrument hydrated in dry conditions. If you’re wary of using a chemical hydration packet, this is an excellent alternative. Easy to use, just remember to use distilled water and thoroughly wring out the sponge. Get some bigger velcro if you plan to affix it semipermanently in your case. Just don’t put it in the little accessory compartment in your case — it won’t be of any help there.

When I purchased my new violin, my Dampit himidifier wouln't fit in the F-holes, so I needed to find something for the case. This was perfect! The D'Addario Small Instrument Humidifier is the perfect size for my case, and the Velcro included with it keeps it attached inside my case securely. It arrived quickly and does what it is needed to do! I actually recommend it over a Dampit (no risk of damaging your instrument). I highly recommend this humidifier!

For hollow-body guitars I use the D'Addario pouch system exclusively. But for a couple solid-body electrics I thought to try these (to help protect the fretboards). These little guys probably do boost the in-case humidity, because whenever I check them, they could use a top-up of distilled water. Experience has led me to the conclusion that I might as well use the D'Addario pouch systems here also with the electrics (no sound hole to emplace them, but plenty of room in the case). I'd rather have spare humidity capacity this coming winter. Since the pouches for for 49%, there is no problem with over-humidifying.

I check the sponge about once a week and it keeps my ukulele case up to 45% humidity which is in the perfect range for a stringed instrument. My Las Vegas home is now at 20% humidity, which is actually pretty good for here. It does not leak, is simple to use, and protects my instrument. An inexpensive solution to what could be a very expensive problem.

The top pops off, ended up taping it closed. I thought about sending it back, but didn't want to go thru the hassle of returning it.
