Griot's Garage 11150 Leather Scent 4oz

UPDATED - 1-19-23 I was randomly on Griots website looking at some other stuff and I happened to look further into this. They recommended soaking a small sponge with this product and placing it under a seat. I decided to try it out and now the scent is lasting an appropriate amount of time and it's strong enough to notice (in a good way). Given the discovery I changed my review to 5 stars because this scent is so accurate and using the soaked sponge technique has lasted at least a full week now. I cut off a square from a buffing pad that was pretty used up and it worked perfectly. I think a piece of a kitchen sponge would work just as well. I hope this tip helps someone frustrated with the endurance of the scent when just sprayed on/under the floor mats. This stuff really smells like a new leather interior car. Original Review - I thought this stuff was the most accurate "new leather interior" scent I've ever come across. It truly smelled just like my car did when I took it from the showroom floor. UNFORTUNATELY the scent literally doesn't last a full day. I liberally sprayed under and on top of my floor mats and by the next morning the scent was completely dissipated. To be fair I tried it again that following day and by the next day the scent was completely gone. I even had a buddy jump in and give me his opinion in case I had just gotten used to the smell. He couldn't detect anything. I returned it and was disappointed in doing so because it did smell great, but if I can't get 24hrs of smell good from it then there's no point to using it. Griots really doesn't do anything wrong but I understand why this is an "under the radar" product now.

If you’re like me, I was wondering what exactly does this smell like and how does this compare to other leather car scents such as chemical guyz.... Most all of them smell like leather. But leather has many smells. There’s new sneakers leather, theres leather jacket or purse and there’s leather interior of a car. Chemical guys to me smells like brand new shoes. It’s stereotypical leather smell as in it smells common. When u smell it u immediately thinks of brand new shoes. Griots literally smells like a new car. While it smells like leather seats it Has very faint notes of thats newness of a car cars smell. Perhaps. Hint of plastic alongside new carpet...all things new combined into this scent with the smell of leather taking the leading high note. I absolutely love it. It makes me feel like my car is brand new.

I just bought a used car with all leather seats and was trying to give it bit "new" smell. It smells great, and very thin and liquidity. for that ONE NEGATIVE review with picture for this product, that person's didn't even use it correct. It is only suppose to be spritzed on the floor mat, NOT YOUR DASH, NOT YOUR SEAT, BUT ONLY ON THE FLOOR CARPET/MAT. It stated to use 2-3 sprintz under each seat, and I did so the first day. It was a fine leather smell. I have owned many $500-$1000 leather jacket and it smelled exactly the same. very faint but expensive. I took a star off because it supposed to last 30 days or so, but mine lasted 2 days. so I doubled the spray the 2nd time and the scent still just lasted 1-2 days. I keep my car in a garage, but we were going through a heat wave with 110F everyday and high humidity. Plus my car recently went through hard core ozone cleanse to get rid of the previous owner's curry smell. Maybe the lingering ozone killed the scent. If it lasted longer, I would definitely keep it.

It actually works for me. What I did was attach a household sponge to the front of the front seats of my Subaru Outback. They are hidden but aren't covered so air can waft around them. After applying Griot's Leather Scent to the sponges over a period of time. About every week or so. They become saturated. When they begin to dry out the scent becomes quite convincing. It seems to work better when the weather is at a certain humidity and tempter. Not sure if that's true but some days it smells amazing and other days I can't smell anything at all. The key is for the sponges to be dry but saturated. I don't think the scent will cover up bad smells like cigarette smoke or a dirty car. I get lot's of compliments and it even fools me sometimes. Even when it's freshly applied it has a pleasant scent. Nothing like the other "new car scents" that smell like cheap boys cologne.

After owning a detailing business for eleven years, I know how a product should perform, and how long it should last. These scents by Griots are decent, they smell wonderful, but they're longevity is not up to par. The spray has the consistency of water, so I don't believe it is quite concentrated enough. I use a very, VERY generous amount too (20 sprays per vehicle!) - but I've had hit and miss luck with the product on my own vehicles, so far no complaints from customers however.

I'm a car guy. When I detail the inside of my car and use Griot's leather cleaner and conditioner and then spray this stuff on my carpeting afterwards, my cars smells INSANELY good. This spray could last a little longer in my opinion, but that's okay because a bottle lasts for a long, long time. In between a thorough cleaning, I spray a few sprays on my carpeting near the floor vents and it lasts a few days and smells great too. Maybe there's some other products out there that do a better job and last longer, but I haven't ran across any of them!

I bought this based on the positive reviews. Boy am I disappointed. Some reviews claimed 2 sprays or more was over powering and lasted a long time with a great leather smell. Some had to even open the windows because 2 sprays was too overpowering. Well I guess I received a bad batch of this stuff. I have two corvettes and a mazda 6 with leather. I sprayed each car with only 1 spray shot under the seats. Next day couldn't smell a thing. Sprayed each car with 2 sprays and this time under each seat. Next day couldn't smell a thing. (Those pine tree hanging things you buy at Walmart can last weeks for 1.99.) Next I sprayed 3 -4 sprays under each seat and more on the rugs. The two corvettes should have been so overwhelmed with leather smell that you would think you were in a leather store. No such luck. Figured maybe it was me. Went out that night with my girlfriend and I figured she is going to say how nice and new the Mazda smelled. NOTHING. I got nothing. That was all the proof I needed. This stuff I'm sorry to say does not work. Have to give this a thumbs down.

My wife got in to my 7 month old car and kindly recommended that it was time for an air freshener. I hate the artificial smell of most air fresheners so I bought this product based on the Amazon reviews and my love of this company's other products. I sprayed one pump on each floor mat (4 total). My wife got in car 2 days later without knowing that I used this stuff and commented that it smelled new again and wanted it for her car! The scent lasts about 5 days to a week, so this bottle will probably easily last a year or more, and it's small enough to keep in my center console. It smells like leather, like a baseball mit or new leather boots. Closest thing to a new car smell I have come across, and it doesn't smell artificial. Strongly recommend!
