Color:Two Owls When you visit Croix des Bouquets, the area of town known for Haitian metal art in the capital of Port-Au-Prince, you are met with a cacophony of tink, tink, tink as ball peen hammers strike sheets of steel. The sheets are cut from steel drums colored by oil and other liquids the drums at one time held. The process of turning sheets of metal into beautiful wall art is all done by hand, from cutting holes that become edges of trees and leaves, to accenting each lizard with a texture of scales, to painting or lacquering the final design. The artists are proud of their work, with many of them signing the pieces on the back side, leaving a raised, reversed signature on the front. Display Instructions: Your handmade artwork may or may not come with a hang tab on the back. If no hanger is there, it is because your sculpture doesn't need one. Hanging your sculpture is still simple as the cutouts in the artwork provide many natural places from which to position nails. You can hang your piece from the top or the middle, whichever makes more sense for your wall space. Usually, two nails are sufficient for 24" rounds or smaller, and you'll want both nails to have small heads on them. If the nails are shiny, you might want to darken the heads with a black Sharpie marker to help the nails visually disappear. Do not place the nails where you do not want to draw attention, such as a face or the main focal point of the sculpture.

Quality Purchase
This Tree of Life is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Very intricately made. Came from Haiti and was hand made and hammered with great style and DETAIL! We did change the color with a dark gold rustoleum paint to match our home trim colors. Hung it up over our garage door peak. We get many compliments from neighbors. Reasonable price and came quickly too. We LOVE IT!

Excellent size and full of detail
Excellent size and full of detail. I noted no smell (and I checked). It is a steel drum so the edges are fine but this is not a knife or close to it.It loosn great on the wall and I'm pleased with the purchase.

Beautiful, striking, and unique.
My husband bought this for me for Christmas 2012. (I'm using his account to write this review.)It's large, intricately detailed, and very striking in our entryway where it is now hung. I hope that visitors will ask us about it, and we can share its oil-drum heritage and the scripture that inspired him to purchase it- Jeremiah 17:7-8.I'm sure we'll have it hanging in our home for years and years to come. If you're thinking of purchasing it, you should go ahead and hit the button. You'll love it.

Great Anniversary gift!
I bought this Tree of Life steel drum as an anniversary gift for me and my wife. She really loves it and this is my favorite wall decoration.This is one of those items that actually looks much better in person I was surprised by the nice craftsmanship. We have it hanging above our big screen TV. This is the one item everybody that comes over notices and ask about.I would highly recommend!

Love All The Haitian Art I Have Purchased
Beautiful Haitian art! I have one and I sent another one to our oldest son's family. It proudly hangs in their kitchen representing the parents and their four boys.

Beautiful piece but to flimsy thin for me
Great craftsmanship and artwork but too flimsy and thin. I was hoping for it to be a little thicker. Could just be me. Talented craft.

Great
In reading the reviews of this item I was confident I was going to like it, and I do. Ordered it for a present for my wife a few days before our anniversary. It took a few days to process the shipment, which drove me nuts because I had such a small window to work with. I was sure it was going to miss it's delivery date, however they got it to my door on time somehow. I was very happy. It does have some sharp edges so be careful unwrapping it.
