Critical Error..apart from being bulky
These made my life easier since I have a lot of ambient lighting in my room and I can control it with this. I wish the company let you buy extra remotes, though, to make it easier to control the lights at different points in the house without remembering to carry the remote with me. For example, at nighttime I might turn off the lights from my nightstand, and in the morning I do not remember to carry it to my desk. When nighttime again occurs the next day, I have to find the remote where i last left it. Having two would be ideal, and they are cheap to manufacture.A small problem with the remote is that the battery cover is very very loose. I don't want to tape it because that looks dumb, but otherwise it keeps falling off and I might lose it. On top of that, why does it use such an unconventional battery size? Most things use AAA or AA nowadays...THE BIGGEST PROBLEM, though, is that my fourth one doesn't work!!!! When I press the 4th button, it turns the fourth outlet on/off, but turns other ones on/off too!?!??! Why does it do this?!! Because of this, I basically cannot use the fourth one, which I was planning on using. Very unfortunate.

Bulky but nice
I have another set of remote switches that only had 3 outlets - so i ordered this product. I DO LIKE THIS PRODUCT BETTER than the other one i have... Here's why- The actual outlet that you plug your lamp, heater, fan, radio, whatever into has a ON/OFF switch. very convenient! If you are sitting next to the lamp- you dont have to search for the remote to turn it on.... But you do have to reach the outlet, so if its behind the couch then this is not helpful to you. *I also like that the remote works better and from a further distance. In my open floor-plan of a house i can keep the remote in a central location and it works just fine to all the outlets.THE BAD: the remote on & and off switch - both of them turn the lamp on as well as off ... so why they didn't just put one button for each channel instead of two ill never know. I wish they had, and then the remote would be MUCH smaller!. *also, the units themselves are BULKY. Actually- lets be real - they are HUGE! I even made an out loud comment to myself on how stunningly large they were when i opened the box. You can still use the bottom plug (these have to go in the top outlet) if your other cord for the other appliance your plugging in is slender like a lamp or a fan (or in my case a fish tank).

They Are Large, But They Work Well
I knocked a star off because of the size. It could be the range is enhanced because of the size (I'm not capable of analyzing the electronics), but you can't plug two of these into one regular wall "double" outlet. They are grounded plugs and that requires that they both be inserted the same direction. I have a six outlet surge protector I used for the prior remote controls, but only one of the new units would fit in the six outlet plug at a time. In other words, they are big. I've included pictures above to show the difference between the old style I had and this newer style. The old style had an antenna you pulled out to enhance the signal, but it still didn't work all that well. These, however, seem to have a good range and don't use an antenna. Overall, I'm pleased. The box was labeled "3 pack" even though it contained 5 units. A search on Amazon for "DB-Tech Wireless Remote Control" turned up a 3 pack (apparently they use the same box for both). The remote is a little smaller. You might also be able to find a better deal on Amazon for the 5 pack doing a search for "DB-Tech Wireless Remote Control"

Wireless remote
Great product. I can turn on my individual yard lights from my patio. Overhead party lights along house eve on one, Party lights on breezeway eve over ornamental garden on circuit two. Party lights in gazebo & 'Park' lights on the third. Low voltage path lights on the forth.Last but not least are the party lights I use to light my breezeway of my shop as I shut off the various shop lights and still have light to see to return to house where I can simply push number 5 to turn these off. The control units have manual switches that allow the turn on from my shop breezeway as evening light fades. The same button is used to turn 'off' or 'on' thus making it difficult to use for the fountain as it takes a minute for the water to begin flowing. The fountain blocks the signal and being impatient the tendency is to keep turning it off and on, without knowing if signal activated the unit. However the '3 Pack' of another brand I previously had works for this as it has separate buttons for 'off' and 'on.' Between the two I have the perfect system(s).

WORKS WELL - JUST WHAT I WANTED
We have a TV stand that gets a bit warm with all the components. To prevent over heating, I placed small desk fans in each compartment. I had a single outlet remote switch that turned all the fans on, or off. I wanted to be able to control each compartment fan individually. This remote system works out perfectly. With the 5 numbered outlet units, I can now control TV, Cable Box, and DVD Player individually. I can now also turn power on or off to my laptop charger, instead of plugging and unplugging it. This still leaves me with one extra outlet unit for later use. All the outlet units are in the same room, but NOT in direct line of site, and they all work with no problems. You do need to know that the outlet units ARE NOT SMALL. You should look at the product photo to get an idea of the size.

Good product if your on a budget.
They work through walls very well.Unfortunately there is no on/off signal its really just one button ... so if I can't just turn off the light in my office from my bedroom, I have to get up and make sure I didn't just turn it on.Also they partially block the outlet so you can only use a normal two prong plug in the 2nd outlet. (Easily fixed with a 2-6 outlet adapter if necessary). The remote takes a weird battery, so I bought a cheap 5 pack on Amazon, if I picked up the same type locally I'd either not find it or pay 10 times as much.Given the price this is an excellent product. I would pay slightly more for a model which had both on and off buttons rather than just one toggle button.
