Gates 21615 Premium Molded Coolant Hose

Perfect fit for the lower radiator hose on a 1995 Cherokee XJ 4.0 liter.

Fit was perfect for a 2000 XJ.. This lower hose is a pain to get on and off, so here are a couple tips.. 1.. pull your air filter housing off.. its only 3 bolts inside the housing and takes 1 minute to do, but gives you access from above.. working from below is almost impossible, as the back end of the hose is up behind the power steering pump. 2. getting the factory spring style clamp off is a pain.. getting it back on is even worse.. so pick up a screw type 2" hose clamp to make this a million times less frustrating...especially on the end that connects to the water pump..

I like the fact that the hose was a little long that way I was insured a perfect fit for my 1990 Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0L engine after trimming a little off both ends. Thank you for an excellent product, I use these hoses in all of my Jeeps. the only downfall is that it did not come with a protector sleeve to help prevent chafing. No internal spring is needed according to Gates due to new formulation in rubber compounds meant to keep it from collapsing

Exact fit and seamless install

Again, just like their upper hose for the Jeep Cherokee 4.0 (mines a 97), this hose is too long between bends. I removed about 1/2 - 3/4" from the water pump end of this hose so it wouldn't be pressing so hard against the steering gear lines. Seems like a quality hose and says Made In USA. Note on the "internal spring": Gates website says it's not needed and I read that the only reason the springs are there from the factory is that the coolant is installed under high pressure vacuum in the vehicle during assembly and is there to keep the hose from collapsing from that. During normal operation of this particular vehicle, there shouldn't be a need for a spring to prevent a good condition hose from collapsing as long as there is nothing else wrong in the cooling system.

Fit right ...quick install

Hose fit perfectly on my 99' Jeep Cherokee. I've seen some people ask about transferring the spring from there old stock lower hose and I have not after going to the Gates website and reading that the new compound they use for making these hoses is strong enough to prevent collapse. It's been a week of driving with 90+ degree temps and this hose is still performing fine.

It’s still holding in coolant so no complaints.
