New Tune A Day for Flute Bk1
REALLY enjoy teaching from this book - the lessons are methodically laid out from week-to-week in a very organized manner for the beginner student. Not too much in a lesson. Detailed pictures laying out each new note learned as well as finger placement for that note. You won't be disappointed with this book! : )

Flute book for beginners
This appears to be a really good beginner book. Our private teacher requires this for all her beginning flute students.

Excellent self-tutor for beginners !
My daughter has been playing the flute for 6 months. I bought her this book for practice and she has had very good improvements.

Hard rhythms and no practice track.
I am a private flute teacher, using this book with an adult student. Although I like most of the tunes, there is no practice track with the CD, just the accompaniment track. Since many songs are jazzy with difficult rhythms, it can very difficult for my student to stay with the track. There is no help with how many beats to count off either. To really be a success, there needs to be practice tracks as well.

Great for beginners
Youngest daughter began playing the flute at the end of the summer term. She wanted something to help her practice through the holidays and this has been just the ticket. It's easy to follow and the CD helps them to hear what the tune should sound like. The first tunes are short, with just a few notes so they are easy to pick up (my daughter learnt the first 4 in her first practice). More notes are added as the player progresses and the tunes become longer. A great buy that has stopped my daughter (and us) getting bored with the same tune over and over.

Good, solid start to playing
Having decided to learn a musical instrument as a *mature* adult (46!) I thought I would get this and work my way through , while having an occasional lesson. SO far so good.. it's clear, and the tunes are just hard enough each time to keep me working at it. Having the CD really helps to ensure I am getting it right and is fun to play 'with' the teacher. Some of the tunes might be a little unexciting for a child or teen, but it's a sensible , logical progression and I am learning at a reasonable pace.. recommended!

Excellent Starter Book for me.
I have just started to teach myself to play the silver flute and am finding the book really good at guiding me into this difficult instrument. The accompanying excellently-presented CD is an essential part of the teaching. My progress is slow, as I anticipated, but the challenge is rewarding, especially hearing the first few melodies slowly emerging from the flute.

Really Good Book for Learning Flute
I have had a flute and this book for a day and already I can play a number of pieces of music! This is a really well laid out book and the CD is very helpful in showing how the piece should sound. I do play other instruments so I am not a complete beginner but I have never played any wind instrument before. I find the 'Lesson' format very useful as I can decide to just do one lesson at a time. It doesn't throw you in head first and does give a beginner information on setting up the flute and reading music. The only drawback about this product is the DVD only has the first lesson and some setting up information on it. I initially thought that all the lessons were on the DVD. All in all, I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn the flute.

A great learning tool.
A great learning tool for the budding flautist. The book comes with both a cd and dvd which are wonderful learning aids and serve the purpose of having a teacher for a fraction of the cost. Highly recommended.
