I purchased these as a replacement to my childrens cups that were worn and leaking. The valves are scored, and if they were bitten or pinched and worked on a bit they open. These people complaining must have bad eyes, cause if you look at it there's a line there and it's cut from the inside, just not all the way through.. If you took a sharp knife and poked a small hole that would probably work as well. The picture shows pink valves but they are indeed green. Works great. No more leaks.

As other reviewers have said, YES the straws are longer but in my opinion even BETTER than the ones that came with the Camelbaks. Reason is the original ones did not reach the bottom and on more than one occasion would slip off the rubber grip and would render the bottle unusable as the straw floated around loose. With this straw, the straw reaches the bottle without extra room to skip off. Yes, you can still suck up the water and still tighten the lid back on. The rubber mouthpiece is like the original ones so a perfect replacement in case you have kiddos that have chewed up the original ones.
