Great recipes!
Excellent recipes. I love that it has pictures. The recipes aren't too complex. Her book was recommended to me years ago and I regret not buying it earlier.

Beautiful, Practical, but too many mushrooms!
I would give this a 5 star review if it weren't for all the recipes calling for mushrooms. Most of the entree recipes, I can not use because of the raw mushrooms required. I absolutely abhor raw mushrooms, although I love them cooked. I do want to eat MUCH more raw food though! Mushrooms are just not one of those possibilities for raw food for me!

Great first-time purchase!
I am a 27 year old mother of two little ones and have been trying to focus on my health and creating lasting good eating habits for my children. I have a career and go to school, so I don't have a lot of spare time. My goal is to incorporate raw cooking, Mediterranean cuisine, and Indian cooking into our daily life and cut out the fast food. The Raw Gourmet is an excellent book for a first-time experimenter of Raw food preperation. Here are a few of the things I really like:1. Honesty. The author is very good at explaining the basics, from what you should buy first to the theory and principles of raw preparation. There are a few parts where she will highlight differences of varying professional opinion, but encourages the reader to do what feels best for him or herself. She tells you what to buy in what order as you become more serious about Raw cooking.2. Index, grocery guide, and sources: All the information you need to get up-and-running3. Three week menu plan4. Beautiful pictures! With not having a lot of time on my hands I'm not sure how serious I will be with all the sprouting that you are supposed to do. I wish I could just buy the sprouts!!In all seriousness, if you are looking for a first introductory book to raw food, don't pass this one up!!

My favorite raw "cook" book
...This is one of the most beautiful recipe books I've ever seen; it doubles as a nice coffee table book! I've always loved cookbooks that show you what the finished recipes are supposed to look like, especially when I'm new to a certain style of cooking (or in this case not cooking). Her book is over-the-top wonderful with lovely photos on every page.Another thing that makes this book so different from other raw "cookbooks" is that Nomi shows you to find the time to prepare raw meals, sprout, etc. Extras include "Ten Raw Food Kitchen Essentials," a sprouting chart, information about food combining, a 3-week menu plan, and so much more! The recipes are as varied and wonderful as any cooked food you've ever eaten, from breakfast grains to juices and salads to pies, cookies, and ice cream! Check out the table of contents to see the incredibly long list of different kinds of recipes she has included in this fabulous book. You won't believe how much you can do with raw foods!I also liked that she includes a notation that shows you which recipes are "properly combined" for those new to food combining. If I had to choose only one of my raw foods recipe books to keep, it would be this one.

Pretty, yummy and doable recipes
I've owned this book for a few months and have made a handful of recipes. Beautiful photography, coherent directions, good intro on raw foods along with a basic set of menus and an overview on the basics of food combining. My chief beef with the book -- and the reason I'm rating it 4 stars instead of 5 -- is the sloppy index, which I've been correcting as I find errors.

Recipes too complex for me.
I purchased this during the restaurant’s hey day. Never made any of the recipes though.

Beautiful Book
This is a very beautiful book, and is worth buying just for the spectacular food photography. There is also a lot of useful information for dishes going beyond fruit and salad, and hints for preparation. If, like me, you are seriously considering adding one or more raw meals to your diet, this book will be helpful.Unfortunately most of the meals seem to require a bit of preparation or planning (soaking) and a Champion juicer or similar food processor. (The blank screen on the Champion emits both juice and pulp together instead of seperating the juice).Thank you Nomi (and Coral).

Beautifully written and photographed
The food in this book is wonderful and fun to make. Nomi really knows her stuff, a wonderful (in)cookbook for anybody to have in their kitchen library. Thank you Nomi, I have thoroughly enjoyed these recipes
