Decent functionality stereo, but doesn't hold up long
I bought my unit in September 2014.I installed it in the cabin of my boat, replacing the original AM/FM radio/cassette that OEM from 1996. I was very happy with the Pyle unit as a replacement, it had ample sound, and it delivered all of the functionality it advertised: MP3, CD player worked great, I could play music from an SD card as well. These were the basic functions I used while I had the unit. The remote worked well from 6-8 ft away.Sadly, it stopped working this week, just 3 years after I installed it. I tested the connections, even tested the internal fuse in the unit. It showed 12.55 volts coming in to the unit and on both sides of the fuse.In other words, the unit is dead.It was installed inside the cabin of my boat, so it wasn't exposed to weather. I live in Ohio, so it does get cold during the winter, but this is a marine stereo, so I assume is is designed to withstand extremes of temperature.I realize the warranty is for 1 year, and I've had it for 3 years. So I will have to replace it at my own cost, but I can say it won't be another Pyle stereo. My original equipment stereo lasted from 1996 to 2014, a very reasonable lifespan.I do not consider 3 years to be anywhere near reasonable, and so am very disappointed in the longevity of this unit.Note: I emailed the Pyle service dept, explaining all of the above. They offered to service the unit, for their standard service fee.Needless to say, I declined their "offer".I'm giving it 3 starts, because it did perform well for the 3 years it worked. My next unit will not be a Pyle.

Better than expected
I was looking for a replacement unit for my 1996 Bayliner boat. The factory unit stopped working and needed to be upgraded anyway. I was going to buy the "mechless" version of this unit, but decided to spend the extra few dollars to have the CD player as well. The radio has good reception using the built in antenna on the boat. No static or fading. Works as expected.I used a couple of different SD cards to test it. I filled up a 2GB and a 1GB card, both formatted to FAT32. Popped them in and hit the shuffle button. No issues, both played just fine. One card I set up with directories and was able to skip from one directory to another.CD Player worked fine, although I will probably never use it.Sound was better than expected in a boat at normal volume. Although when volume was high, it did get a lot of distortion. That may possibly be the fault of the speakers as they are 14 years old and have been exposed to the elements. I will be installing new speakers soon and will update this review if it sounds any better.*UPDATE*Added new speakers. Sounds much better. The old speakers were shot. Volume on this unit is still not great, but in a boat it is more than enough.

Great Radio
I'm very impressed with this radio and love the features. The SD card, USB and MP3 player hook up's are priceless. The SD is a real cool feature we use all the time, just loaded a bunch of MP'3s on it and they all were read with no problems. I was also hooking up my MP3 player using the headphone jack when I thought could I hook up my Sansa MP3 usb cable to the USB port on the radio so I tried it. Hooking up the MP3 player via the USB port alows it to be controled via the radio and remote control. I have also hooked up a flash drive to the usb port with mp3's on it and again it read it with no problems. The remote control does not look water proof and has to be pointed directly at the raido but it does work. I can sit on the swim platform or by in the water and still control it as long as I get a direct line of site to the radio. The sound is also really good, I would buy this radio again.

Great stereo for the price
I put this stereo into my 2007 Sea Ray 195 Sport. I have two front speakers directly into the unit, and I have four 6 1/2 inch Polk Marine speakers on my tower running into a JBL Marine amp that is hooked up to the RCA inputs from the unit. Very clear display. I got the unit b/c of the SD card input, and I must say that works great. I put all my music onto a 4gb SD card, and it reads it perfectly. You can change the song with the remote or on the unit itself. Don't know about the CD player as I have not used it (probably won't). The only downside to the unit is that the remote has about a 6ft radius, so I cannot change songs or volume while in the water, but that's not a major issue. I would highly reccommend this unit to anyone.

All I need in a car stereo
The term "marine" was not explained well on site. It means white, permanent undetachable face plate. Other than that, it fits perfectly into a standard in dash mount for your car. I replaced another after market CD player and wire configuration was identical. So pushing the same wires back into the same tight spot was the only real challenge. No holes to cut.The 160 watts are more than adequate power. But the ability to handle SD Flash chips and USB and CD is extremely handy. This is the 2nd Pyle in dash unit I have owned. The other car died before the Pyle did.

Nice radio while it works
I wouldn't buy this radio. When I first got it all was well. It felt a little cheap but I expected that. I got it all connected and the radio worked fine, although the button layout and menus were confusing at best. Then a month later I had to take the radio out to put a seal around it. When doing so the back screw that held it in fell back into the radio, there was nothing there to keep it from doing this. Afraid of a short I had to open the radio up and get the screw out of there. It wasn't under power at all during this. When it was all back together, after voiding the warranty, the radio didn't work right. All the buttons do is change the band, any button I press will just change it from FM, AM, AUX,Card.Don't buy it, it is made very cheap.

Satisfied Customer
This product met my expectations completely. I do not hesitate to give this a five star rating. The item arrived in a timely manner as promisedand has performed wonderfully. I did have some initially concerns regarding the packaging and felt it could have been packed a little tighter, however the packaging did not cause any problems. I would recommend that in the future Amazon include a owners manual in the box with the product, in the event the purchaser wants to install it themselves.
