Bought as replacements for previous "fire Angel" smoke detectors (as they had expired) easy to test/install

Bought these to replace existing smoke alarms supplied and fitted by the local fire brigade. Because they use exactly the same existing base, easy replacement - just a matter of unscrewing the existing alarms from their bases, and screwing on the replacement alarms, ie thankfully no need to remove the old bases and fit new bases, with all the decorating implications of having to do that. Thus 5 stars for ease of installation. The twin pack was offered at a reasonable price compared to other suppliers, albeit the FireAngel range isn't the cheapest around, hence 4 stars for VFM. I have awarded 2 stars for battery life as the existing alarms, on the reverse, stated "replace by the end of May 2026", which I assume means that they had a shorter life by 6 years than advised. The alarms are in my house's hall and stairway (one on the ground floor, the other on the first floor, placed there by the fire brigade). They have never suffered any smoke, fire or other damage so not sure of the reason for the battery short life span.

These need to be pressed to stop the alarm when not needed so need to keep some long tool to press large button on centre when on ceilings. These were the cheapest l could find as fire brigade no longer supplies them free. Could be five in a pack for the price. Highly recommend. They require adhesive pads bought separately to affix to ceilings. They don't come with anything to attach them. Not used tech support so cannot comment. These are still working in 2024 so still in use good battery life so far so good.

Great smoke alarms easy to fit and last a long time

Smoke detectors are there to save your life. They also have a lifespan of 10 years before they should be replaced. The last detectors we had were installed in the house in 1993 when it was built! These are easy to put up, two screws in the baseplate and then twist and lock the unit into place. It's really simple and even has instructions in the box. It has a burnt toast feature (you can switch it off for 10 minutes if you burn toast) and it's loud. A red light flashes every 45 seconds to tell you it is active. Test the device and you will find it wakes any hibernating grizzly. The battery life is 10 years, after which it should be replaced. Interestingly smoke detectors have 'use by' dates, always check. This one had a use by date of 10 years + 1 year so it was fresh from the factory. Incidentally, these can be found recommended on the Fire Service website. Good value for a pack of two.
