I used these to hold a tarp where the edge was cut (no grommets). They grip tightly, and the more you pull the tighter they get. I used rope about the size of clothesline, a metal ring or a carabiner would also work, it has to be able to pull to tighten. They held outside over the winter, just one winter so far, in a pretty windy area. I haven't tried other clips, but I like the self-tightening feature of these.

If you've ever needed to secure a tarp over a car or piece of equipment or even one of those tents for sporting events, then you will really appreciate being able to control where on the fabric you want your attachment point and these clamps let you do that. They are secure and easy to use with your own cord. I am sure they are also an indispensable part of any emergency preparedness kit that includes a tarp.

As long as you have a flat surface to attach it to, they work great!

These are the best clips I've used for my tarps. They hold better than the grommets holes.

They grip and lock in place really tight! We did break a couple during install and trying to get them removed. Good product though.
