A great little recipe book, top quality!
Bought an ice cream maker and this to go with it: was not disappointed with the recipes, clear instructions and additional information about tools, ingredients and some of the history surrounding them. The history of the author is nice too, it makes for a nice read while your mix is chilling! I'm a beginner, but I can see it being great for a more experienced ice cream fanatic.Comes with a variety of sections for different ice creams, sorbets, gelatos and khuflis. My favourite so far is the gingerbread ice cream, though I haven't made them all yet.Sounds silly, but even has two bookmark ribbons rather than one, small details like that to a long way to making a great quality recipe book.

Lots of inaccuracies/weird instructions in the recipes
I'm not convinced the recipes have been properly tested or proof-read. The crumble recipe (rhubarb crumble ice-cream) has so much butter and such a low cooking temperature that the crumbs melted into one big "splodge"; the parfait recipe tells you to use half the sugar in the egg mix, but has no instructions for the rest of the sugar; his custard method differs from every other recipe I've seen.... and so on. The number of inaccuracies makes me doubt he's ever made some of these flavours. On a positive note, the ideas/combinations are good, so I use this book for ideas but use other books for instructions/quantities. Probably not a good book for beginners.

A great selection of recipes
Delicious recipes that are easy to make. I did find some missing information in some of the recipes, for example the basic vanilla ice cream lists skimmed milk powder as an ingredient, but doesn’t tell you when to put it in. ( I found it best to heat it with the milk, sugar, cream and lemon juice.)Apart from that I would highly recommend this book, it has old favourites and some interesting flavours to try. I have also bought Ben Vears Organic Ice Cream book which I have yet to go through, although I think a lot of the recipes will be in this edition.I used this recipes for an ice cream machine but there are also instructions for making without a machine.

Excellent book with some great recipes
I bought this book having seen a brief mention in a newspaper and have been delighted with the recipes which include some unusual ones alongside the more familiar ones. There are some excellent recipes including salted caramel, mint choc chip and white chocolateUnusual ones include chocolate sorbet which I haven't tried yet and some I am not at all sure about like olive oil ice cream! It is all beautifully illustrated with some very artistic photos of ice cream.

A mouth watering choice beautifully presented.
We recently bought an ice-cream maker. This was the first book we bought. Love the recipes. Especially the Basil and bay leaf sorbet, the olive oil ice-cream (it sounds so wrong but tastes so right and the maple syrup gelato with some added stem ginger. Love the photo's. They just want you to make more.
