I have to say I had some doubts about this yak cheese holder based on some of the reviews. However, I didn't find the holder to be cost-prohibitive if those reviews turned out to be accurate so I decided to give it a try.I have a giant dog and a large dog. I give them the large yak chews (roughly 1.5"-2" x 8"-9"). This holder works just fine; quite well, in fact. It's a really simple concept, actually. Place yak cheese in hole, tighten screw until yak cheese doesn't move. Give to dog.Now, if your dog is clever enough (or strong enough) to loosen the screw and dislodge the bar of hard cheese, that is a different matter, altogether. You just have to be smarter than your dog and figure how to outsmart him/her.This holder might be damaged by chewing over time, but that is pretty much all dog toys; especially if you have a hard-core chewer, like I do. For the products of this type that are on the market right now, this is the best holder I've found.

My 6 year old boxer loves yak cheese bars, but always has a difficult time holding them. I figured we’d give this holder a try. She LOVES it. She carries it around the house with her, even keeping it next to her bed, while her other yak bars lay ignored in another room.

Great for giving your dogs bones or any chew treats. This only thing I didn’t like about it was the screw that closed on the chew. If your dogs are super chewers, like mine, they will chew where the screw tightens and now I can’t unscrew it all the way to fit larger bones in it. Other than that it’s a great way to give chews and not worry about them swallowing the small pieces.

For us, this did not work for a long term solution. My doberman was still able to wrestle the bone or bullystick out of this 9/10 times. I also found the plastic screw is easy to strip and becomes less and less effective w each use. For us, a $5 C Clamp from Lowes is much less effective- because our girl will swallow something as soon as its the size of your palm. I have 3/5 stars because it did work, just not long term enough for me to love the product.

I TRIED TO RETURN THESE AND I GOT A PHONE NUMBER TO CALL HIMALAYAN DOG TREATS INSTEAD. I BOUGHT THE SMALL SIZE FOR MY KING CHARLES AND THEY ARE VERY HEAVY. THE SCREW DID NOT HOLD THE SMALL SIZE TREAT. THE TREATS BROKE AT THE ENDS AND ONLY THE MIDDLE PIECE WHERE THE SCREW IS HELD IT. THEY DO NOT EVEN USE THESE SO I DECIDED TO RETURN IN A WEEK. I WAS REFUSED. SO THEY ARE NOT REFUNDABLE. I ORDERED 4. IT WAS GET THE 4TH ONE FREE. SO THREE WERE TAKEN OUT OF THE PACKAGE. THEY DID NOTHING AS ADVERTISED FOR ME AND MY DOGS. JUST A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY AND I COULD HAVE PAID $3 less apiece elsewhere. JUST A GREAT DISAPPOINT IN SUCH A SHORT TIME. YOU HAVE TO OPEN THEM AND YOU HAVE TO TRY THEM. IF YOU DO THEY WON'T TAKE THEM BACK. $30 WASTED. ALSO SCREWS WILL NOT LAST LONG AND BONES DON'T FIT PROPER

Seems to work just fine for the hounds holding there Yak Chews. It keeps the last small piece from being swallowed.

This only works for a few minutes at best with my dog. He gets the chew out no matter how much I tighten the screw, making the product useless for its intended purpose. It gets 2 stars simply because my dog is quite happy to chew it by itself and is now using it as a “bone” itself. And it is very hard so it’s holding up decently well.

Finally I can relax and not be obsessed that my puppy may choke on a yak chew! I used a large flat head screwdriver to easily secure the yak chew. Be sure to check the security of the chew before each chew session. My super aggressive chewer can not be left unattended with the holder, but this has changed my life for the better. We have only had the holder a few days and it is taking a beating. This holder is a great value and definitely gives me peace of mind.
