Good story, great characters, better editing than book 1
Looks like there was a different editor for this book. The editing issues in the first book have been resolved. Yay!Decent story with good characters. The protagonist is STILL a lousy dog owner, though. There are a few...factual mistakes. The protagonist inherits a ranch in Wyoming, and the author did not a whit of fact checking. It's 300 acres, but after driving for an hour, they were still on her land. (That made me laugh really hard.) And the ranch is running a couple hundred animals -- but ranchland in that area would require several acres of land per animal for grazing, and that doesn't consider rotational grazing requirements.I'll keep reading the series, but someone somewhere should do some research, and please God, become a better dog owner.

Danger at the alpaca ranch
The second book in the Knitting Mystery series has Kelly trying to balance her tele-work situation and trying to figure out a way to stay in Colorado permanently. She is starting a new knitting project, and is having a hard time resisting all of the new fibers that are coming in. She is also at wit's end about her dog stealing golf balls from the nearby course, so has to invest in some fencing to keep him in. She is also dealing with sorting out the realities of the property she inherited out of state. Kelly volunteers to help take a group of tourists up to the alpaca farm of fellow knitting circle member, Vicki, a fiber artist. When Vicki is nowhere to be found, she is stunned to find her murdered in her home. Debbie's daughter, who suffers from asthma comes to help settle her mother's estate. She hires Kelly to help sort out the accounts. When they find some puzzling issues, Kelly feels compelled to help try to sort out who might be the murderer. As she digs for clues, tragedy strikes again, and Kelly must work hard to figure out what happened before it is too late. The book includes knitting patterns at the end, and was a fun cozy mystery.

Enjoyable read
I enjoy the authors writing style. It's an easy, enjoyable read about Kelly Flynn who moved from the east coast to Colorado in book 1 because of a death in her small family. In this book, she continues to telecommute with her financial firm, however, living a much different life in Colorado has her thinking about how she can possibly leave. She inherits land from a second relative who passed in book 1. It's interesting to muse about what would I do in that case. Bonus section has patterns for two projects that Kelly knits in the book and a pie recipe. The series being about murder mysteries and knitting, I'm wondering how many relatives and close friends one can have who are murdered. What makes me want to read more is how will Kelly decide what to so with the ranch and livestock her inherits.

Second Entry Not an Improvement Over the First...
I like Maggie Sefton's novels; I really do. Like other reviewers, I'm having trouble keeping all the knitting characters clear in my mind, but I still enjoy Kelly Flynn and her companions a lot. The author continues to use attribution to distraction, and I still take issue with her facts when she leaves the knit shop where she appears to be most comfortable. 300 acres of land doesn't seem all that large to me, given that I vaguely remember it taking two acres to supply feed for a single steer. That acreage certainly doesn't require a hefty road trip to navigate. And she refers to a bull as a steer. Oops. But nit-picking aside, I look forward to the author's third novel in the series, although I'll wait for the paperback edition.

Meet the knitters.
Kelly has left D.C. to take care of her aunt's affairs in Colorado. She lost both her aunt nd her cousin recently. She has been staying in her aunt's cottage across the street from a yarn store. Kelly has been befriended by the knitters and goes across the street every day for coffee and relaxation with knitting. Knitting helps her think. Kelly is becoming comfortable with her new friends and her new life in Colorado.

More than a mystery
I am really enjoying this series. I have become acquainted with the characters, and am learning a whole lot about knitting and yarns as well. This one takes place on an Alpaca farm, and the care that goes into the animals and the ultimate production of alpaca yarn is built into this story, along with the mystery. I was rather sorry that the victim was who she was - I rather liked her. Solving the mystery fitted in well with the rest of the story and kept the pace up. Enjoyable.

A really great yarn#
As a confirmed knitter and spinner, and yarn hoarder this book held me all the way through. Just like Agatha Christie I suspected every character in the story till the last few pages. Loved the plot twists and turns as well as the boa directions at the end. Can't wait to read more about this group.

I wanted to stab myself with my own needles it's so bad
Well I persevered with the first book figuring that the writer needed to settle into a style but I was so very wrong at one point I threw the book across the room becaue of the endless pointless babbling about coffee, yes she babbled on and on about the heroines favourite addiction luscious delectable coffee especially from Petes coffee shop - never mind the damned cinnamon rolls. So of course in this book our heroine has become a much loved member of the lambspun knitting group with members who I still couldnt identify well I lie one she describes in such a manner I wouldn't be surprised to discover was actually a man in drag.I cannot bring myself to finish the book I'm utterly bored by it and the characters but more by the writers endless not to mention repetitive descriptions of events or in her case food, drink and yarn I almost wonder if she has A software program that just plops in the same boring phrases.. The point at which I have given up is the two or three paragraphs approx one and half pages dedicated to the heroine Kelly eating blueberry pie at a dinner party, the word purple puddle, pie, blueberry appeared three or more times. So it was at this stage I screamed with rage because I could have used the time wasted on this utter tripe doing something constructive like actually Knitting. As I've said before you do not need much in the way of intellect to read these books, if it's a mystery thriller you are looking for this isn't it, you will have sussed the culprit by the fourth or fith chapter, you will not learn much interesting ie in this book there is a chapter dedicated to a conversation about alpacas, you'll learn far more from wiki or looking online actual Alpaca breeders.I'm donating my books to my local knitting group but will issue warnings that they will find this writer seriously wanting.

An intriguing mystery.
This is the second in the series, I found it interesting because it contains some info about alpacas, and about breeding them. At one point the characters make an inventory of all the alpaca and sheep fleeces they have, and describe the natural colours of the fleece, which is rather attractive.I do rather wonder whether the newcomer to the community, around whom the plot centres, would really be allowed to go into the yarn store and fiddle with all the yarns, however soft and pretty they are.........She is learning to knit, and is attracted by all the bright colours. There are also patterns and a recipe

Exactly as described.
Arrived promptly, was in excellent condition. Had read later books by this author, of this mystery series and wanted to read the early books which had been unable to find elsewhere.

easy read
Have read several books in this series, and all are very easy reads. Although murder is involved in the story line,it also follows the lives of a group of friends who frequent an absolutely fabulous wool shop.the descriptions throughout the books are excellent, you can almost 'taste' the colours. All in all an enjoyable read
