Good value
This pack worked well for me for recovery from shoulder surgery. It was good for the price. Pros: - wrapped around my shoulder pretty well - good and cold right out of the freezer - size and shape make it easy to store in our home freezer - sleeve is comfortable even without a towel - it stayed cold for several minutes Wishes: - the Velcro strap stuck to everything I wore and was kind of annoying - I didn’t quite hug my shoulder like packs specifically made for shoulders do. This would be great for a non bendy body part (e.g., lower back) - it had to be refrozen after a few minutes so I had to switch with another pack in the first day or two when I was supposed to have constant ice in my shoulder Overall this is great if you don’t want to spend a ton of money or store a huge cold pack or a machine.

Makes for a Great Cold Pack for Lower Back
My usage: I have used the multi-purpose gel pack nearly every day, multiple times per day and throughout the night, for my lower back. I have bulging discs in my lower back, and I use the cold pack after I exercise, in order to reduce inflammation. I have not used the gel pack for heating purposes. My experience so far: The gel pack is well built and designed. It comes in a soft and breathable, removable fabric case that feels nice to the touch (hint: make sure when you put the gel pack inside of the fabric case, that it is oriented in such a way that the Velcro straps, which are attached to the gel pack, wrap around so that the soft side of the Velcro faces your body). The gel pack stays cold for a good amount of time, and the heat transfer from the pack to your body is of a good rate (namely, it does its job without feeling too cold). I actually sleep with the gel pack on every night, and it allows me to sleep on my back and on my side without any discomfort. In fact, I dare say that it actually gives perfect support for my spine such that my bulging discs do not bother me as much as usual--for both side sleeping and back sleeping (this was a nice bonus!). I previously purchased a lower back support pillow specifically for this purpose, and this gel pack works better, for me! That I can roll over and otherwise abuse this gel pack during my sleep is testament to its durability. Another nicety of the gel pack is that the pack itself consists of three compartments/cells that allow for the tailored distribution of the gel along the length of the pack. Since I like most of the coolness to be near the center, I simply squeeze the gel from the side compartments into the center, where it will stay put, once the gel has become cold, and more viscous. My Overall Opinion: I like the pack. I actually won a free pack after purchase of the first one (it came with a scratch-off). So, I actually alternate between two different packs, which means no down time. I admit that I have not tried any other gel packs on the market; so, I don't have much for comparison with others. Nevertheless, I am satisfied with this pack so far, and I do recommend it.

very useful, cools quickly
have been using it for a few weeks now and it takes less time in comparison to other cold packs to get cold. the seller shared the pro tip to use salt in the water to retain the coolness for long time and it was a great tip. also the velcro helps to use it shoulders and waist without moving. so overall 10/10

The BEST EVER!!! Better than I could design myself!!! Ordering another to rotate after surgery!
Update: 6 years later and I still LOVE IT!! Just a tip whenever dealing with velcro in the bed. Check to make sure if it's the kind where the hooks can shed. If so, don't open and close that from within the bed. They can get stuck in your bedding and scratch you. It took me years to figure out what they were! A lot of smart thinking went into this design which is then well implemented! Just got and tried tonight & only cold so far. I'm preparing for surgery on my spinal cord for a very painful condition called Symptomatic Intrasacral Menengial Cysts aka Tarlov Cyts (awareness is important). It makes it feel like I'm sitting on or laying on shards of glass and I can no longer stand for more than 20 seconds at a time. It feels like the glass is between my skin and the bed and also between my spine and my skin. Therefore putting anything against my skin is incredibly painful and anything cold is outright unbearable! Here's what makes it SOOO GREAT... 1. The inner light blue cold part which goes in (and fits compactly in) the freezer remains flexible and soft gets very cold, stays very cold for at least an hour! I did 20 on, 20 off, 20 on... still quite cold!! If you have mobility issues, that matters! 2. The outer sheath has 2 very unique sides that velcro together to close in the cold part securely. One side is very thin, silky and aerated. This side allows a very slight amount of insulation so you feel the cold fully just no plastic sweating against your skin! This side is only for me when I'm putting it on for the 3rd 20 minutes on after when theres just a bit of cold left. 3. The other side of the outer sheath is a thick neoprene type foam type material (like a scuba suit) with soft a felt like outer layer... it insulates the skin from the harsh cold feeling of an ice pack like you've got a towel doubled between you and the cold pack, but never wrinkles! Wow do I appreciate THAT!!! AND trust me it still gets plenty cold as I am laying on it! Yikes! 3. The nice long very elasticized straps/belt have a strong grip velcro starting about 10 inches out and go for maybe a foot. So it's not scratchy if you brush against the sides. My hip measurement is about 38" and I think it would fit comfortably around a good 50" to 55" inches around or a bit more or as small as a child's wrist. 4. And as a clothes maker I find this brilliant!!! When you close the velcro around you, the rough side of the velcro only faces out or in. If I'm wearing my night gown, I face it out so it wont tear up the silky fabric. If you needed to wear Jean's or leggings and needed it to stay in place while standing you might face the rough gripping part towards you so it would grip the fabric. I really can't say enough about this cold pack! I will buy a second one now to rotate in the freezer, but also because I have a tendency to lose things especially while in the hospital or traveling, and I don't ever want to not have at least one of these on hand as I am quite a clutz! I wonder if this will be allowed on the airplane as it's not actually liquid and maybe a small enough amount? Not sure how much is allowed now? Bottom line... Bravo!!! Highly recommended!!!
