Name says it all
The Minka Simple fan is just what it says, Simple. So many fans out there are, for lack of a better word, junky and old-fashioned looking, even when they try to be contemporary. This fan on the other hand is elegant and truly minimalist. This does not mean, however, it isn't functional. This thing really moves air. I bought the 44" blade size, installed it on a 9' sloped ceiling, in a 12 x 12 room. Even Minka said get the 52" for this size room, but I wanted less fan on my ceiling, so I got the smaller size. Was worried it wouldn't move enough air. I worried for nothing. This thing moves a ton of air, even at medium speed. Having said this, if you're in a super hot climate(I'm not), probably go 52" for this size room. What else? The included 6" downrod was perfect for my ceiling height. I like the white color, disappeared into the white ceiling. I like the remote control with 6 variable speeds. I like the reverse function on the remote control for counterclockwise motion. Despite what you may read in some other reviews, I think the DC motor is very quiet. Yes, there's a little bit of "whoop whoop" at high speed due to the design of the fan blades, but it is still quiet in my opinion. I bought the WC400 wall control as well, didn't really need it but it looks cool. Also bought the light kit: K9787 - WHF(this is the color code for a white fan). Didn't need it for this fan, but planning on buying a couple more and will install light where necessary. Don't forget the slope adapter: A245 - WHF(this is the color code for a white fan) if you have any kind of sloped ceiling.

Silent relief
This is a beautiful, simple, streamlined design and operates silently! It makes a small whirr on the highest setting but not a peep on levels 1-4.I had an electrician install it with no problem. The only thing that is surprisingly poorly designed is the remote. It's usable but is possible the worst design I've come across in a remote.

Great fan!
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like this fan. It's modern, attractive and quiet even at the highest setting. Nor does it shake. And it moves the air well. I would buy it again for sure.

Very Nice Minimalist Fan
Great looks, seems like excellent quality, quiet, moves plenty of air even on lowest setting. Probably a pretty easy install on flat ceiling. Ours are heavily angled so install was far from easy. The "remote" receiver sits up with the wiring and I had to shim things and bend things to get it to sit properly. If not for that this would 5's across the board. Hope they last!

Great Fan but installation not fun
The fans have been in for a week and are working fine: smooth, quiet, and moving air. The only complaint I have is about the installation instructions. The instructions are incomplete. There are parts that one must use but those parts are never mentioned anywhere in the installation instructions. Also, there are figures in the installation instructions that are never referenced in the text. Of greatest concern, however, is a rubber cover on one part that covers two holes and the instructions require you to attach another part to those holes. Do you cut holes in the rubber to accomplish the attachment or do you remove the rubber? Who knows? I contacted the manufacturer's help line and, after 20 minutes wait, a person answered and apparently accidentally hung up on me. So I took photos of the issue and sent the photos and an explanation to them via email. As of this writing, I have not received any response. So I say, "WING IT". I completely removed the rubber part and it all works fine for now.

Will NOT WORK with wall switch
Because of strange design/engineering flaw, this fan WILL NOT WORK with a wall switch. It will also NOT work with a wall light switch. This fan is designed to work ONLY with the provided remote. If you use smart WIFI wall fan switches (we use Treatlife, which are excellent), the fan WILL NOT WORK.They designed this fan with a separate, inline remote receiver box. Unlike other, similar designs, this box has BLK-WHT-Neutral input only, and eight or so propriety wires for output. The unfortunate consequences of this terrible engineering decision are:(1) Lights. The inline receiver box only has three wires (black, white, green). There is no light input wire (red). Lights can ONLY be controlled by the remote. No other way. If you have a smart WIFI fan/light switch, it will NOT control the light.(2) Fan. The inline receiver box can be connected to fan control wires (black, white) leading to a smart wall switch. HOWEVER, the inline receiver box does NOT "remember" its setting if it loses power. This means that when you turn the fan off at the smart WIFI wall switch, it goes off as intended. But when you flip the fan switch back on, the inline receiver defaults to the "off" position, and the fan does not start. In other words, "off" works fine, but "on" requires the remote control. I've tested this repeatedly, and verified every connection.Honestly, these are simply questionable - even poor - engineering decisions. Smart WIFI wall switches are gaining in popularity, and an increasing number of people have them in their whole house. As a result, we have wasted two days of effort, and will be returning $2400 worth of fans.Edit: If you are running into similar fan selection issues, what we finally did is watched installation videos on YT to see how the remote receiver was wired. If you see the same number of wires on both input/output, you are good. If you see MORE wires coming out than going in, then you may have trouble. Particularly if one of the wires is grey.

Quiet, Elegant, Throws a Good Amount of Air. We LOVE it!
We bought this for our Covered Deck ceiling. It has survived some pretty heavy wind storms (once, even while on…it took a small divot out of our wood-slat vaulted ceiling and doesn’t even show any damage). After nearly a year of use, it is still going strong. Love the fan. Would never hesitate to recommend.
