Excellent product for the price
I bought the C-600 for a friend who was using an old Logitech Quick Cam and bought one for myself also. Installation was smooth and easy and the software works fine. No problems. The C-600 is a big improvement over the old Quick Cam in both features and picture quality. The built-in microphone works as well as the camera. It never gives me any feedback at all. My friend often walks around her apartment while we talk so she turns up her speakers. I am able to hear her from the next room if she speaks up a bit and yet I never hear my own voice coming back to me. This is very good performance.I am using this camera with QQ IM and there are no issues with that program. The Logitech Vid video-chat software that comes with the C-600 actually produces better image quality and a larger image but QQ has a lot more messaging features.A short time after installation a software update was made available. It was a very big update, pretty much a whole new version. The new version works better but is slightly redesigned. The original had a small, vertical toolbar that placed all of the software features at your fingertips. The new version did away with that and now the features are spread out among multiple screens. This is a comparative nuisance.Camera and microphone each live up to my expectations (for the money, after rebate) so I give it a strong recommendation. Perhaps I could do better if I spent more but I am quite satisfied. This item came with a $20. mfg. rebate offer when I bought it. I did the rebate submission for each camera (one only allowed per envelope) carefully and a week or so later I got an email from Logitech informing me the submissions had been received and were being processed (13 days ago as I write this).

Works very well on Mac (with minor caveats)
As other reviewers have said, despite being designated a Windows-only model it works on Mac (as it's UVC compatible) with only two exceptions (hence the 4/5 rating).First, you won't get any of the special features like effects or RightLight. But after reading more into it, RightLight is simply a post-processing filter, meaning the camera itself isn't doing anything special. The software is just reading the image and adjusting it as best it can. If you're critical about the picture, I recommend getting a piece of software called "iGlasses". It's $10, but it allows full adjustment of the video coming from the cam and works in all major video chat apps. Brightness, contract, sharpness, tint, etc... it's all there. The second (and I'm not sure if Windows users even get the option) is there's no way to manually control the shutter. In very dark scenes it will sometimes slow the shutter down and achieve great (if streaky) low light ability, other times it won't. Not a HUGE deal since even without slow shutter it has by far the best low-light capability of any cam I've owned. If you have enough light to read by, it's enough to use this cam.The microphone is very good as well. Good and clear without any distortion or noise. In all, I'm very happy with it, and it's a major improvement over my old iSight firewire cam.

It's looking at me.
This camera is the best I've ever owned. I constantly get compliments on the quality of the image and although I use it atop my desktop monitor and don't move it often, it seems like it would travel very well for the laptop road warrior. With that being said, the clip that holds the camera to the top of the monitor really has no tension built in, so every now and then I have to readjust it to make sure I'm centered. I would think that this might be a slight problem for all you laptop users who move around with the camera mounted. As far as the built-in visual effects, I have only tried a couple of times to use it. I wear glasses, and the software seems to have a hard time recognizing my eyes, which seems to be pretty much how the camera tracks your movements. That's a little bit of a bummer, because I really wanted to look like a shark while I participate in conference calls. All in all, I'll reiterate: great little webcam. I would buy again.

I finally had to return it.
I bought three C600 webcams from Logitech for my children and myself. I have not been happy with them at all. None of them have worked all of the time and mine has been particularly bad. It would work one day and not the next. One day there would be no picture and the next no sound. Then the next day it would have neither. I tried reinstalling the software, talking to their tech people and nothing helped. Finally, one of their techs said the camera was faulty and that I should return it for a new one, but they didn't have any of that model and I would have to wait two weeks to get another one. I was not very happy about that since you can find them in many stores. Then I was told I could have a different model if I paid the difference or a refund. When I inquired about a different model they found a C600 for me and I returned the webcam. I am waiting for a new camera now.I do want to say however, that the tech people tried to be helpful and were very polite. I bought the Logitech even though it was a little more expensive because I thought it was the best brand on the market. I have been disappointed so far, but we will see when the new webcam arrives.
