Accepts all 10 Car protocols PLUS CAN-Bus (Works with ALL cars)
I replaced my old OBDII unit, because when I would read the codes on my 2005 Lexus ES300 (P40002, P0004 and P0006 codes), upon clearing the codes, I would find that my SRS lost it's calibration and my car computer would think it was in the middle of a "roll-over" and would turn off the Anti-lock brakes and traction control. This meant that I had to re-calibrate the SRS every time I read the codes. My old meter read the codes, and hinted at the problem - which meant hours looking for a vacuum leak. All told - hours wasted and lots of frustration. So, I got this little gem. It read the same codes, as expected - and then SUGGESTED some easy fixes. Guess what? An $8 replacement gas cap fixed my problem. And, because this meter reset the codes and is compatible with CAN-Bus, it didnt' screw up my SRS and ABS system after reading the codes. It does so much more than my old meter! And another plus. If you are like me; you buy this, and generally only use it a couple of times a year. And, likely have batteries that get left there to rot, and hopefully they are replaced before they leak. This requires NO batteries. That's right - it just taps into the vehicle's battery and takes what little power it needs to run the CPU from the car - so you can store it indefinitely without worrying that the battery will leak acid and destroy the unit. It boots up in about 10 seconds, and autel has firmware updates online so you can keep it updated. You will need WindowsXP or newer. I had no issues with Win10. Update was easy and pretty fool-proof. Included software also allows you to capture screen-shots to review on your PC (again, Windows only - not Mac - I couldn't get Parallels to play with this on my Mac running El Capitan). So - as far as I can confirm - you will need a PC running WindowsXP or later.I also had no issues getting this to connect to my 2003 Toyota Tacoma - so it works perfectly with "older" vehicles too. It connected with my vehicles flawlessly, every time. BTW - I updated to the latest firmware on the autel website upon receiving the unit. Again, to be clear - it's straightforward, the download is relatively small, the update takes less than a minute and I am extremely satisfied with this purchase.

Reads codes on our '14 MB G550 & '15 Honda Fit (Lexus too!!)
Exactly what I needed to read the codes from our '14 MB G550 and '15 Honda Fit. Tested and the tool communicated with both of these vehicles. Haven't had any issues, but made this purchase to diagnose my cousin's '10 Lexus RX350. It found the fault code and interpreted the fix. Replaced the O2 sensor, cleared the code and all is back to normal. This Autel 519 cost $65. The replacement part (Denso 234-4509 Oxygen Sensor) was $72. My cousin bought the part and split the cost of the Scan Tool. He saved $340 vs. going to the dealer (Lexus labor rate in our area is $125/hr.). They quoted him $450 for parts and labor. Took both of us about 3 hours to do this install plus clean the engine bay, change oil/filter, rotate tires, change the cabin filter, replace the front brake pads and bleed the brakes!!! Although my labor was FREE, we enjoyed the rest of the day chugging down a couple 6-packs of my favorite lite beer!!!!Seller shipped from TX. as indicated on the listing. Although Prime not mentioned, it arrived in two days! The AL519 is a few more dollars than Autel's other models, but they won't do the enhanced Mode6 which most new Euro cars now have. Am liking the color-screen and the "beep" function when buttons are depressed.. Gives that "professional" feel when performing diagnostics. Length of the supplied cable is more than enough to comfortably reach from any OBDII port to the driver's seat.As with most scanners, operation is similar: without turning over the engine, turn the key to "start" position (or push "start-button" to start mode w/out stepping on the brake) and the Autel starts communicating with the vehicle's CPU once the corresponding button is pressed from the menu!!!Described as "used-like new". Nevertheless, it came with the original box, instruction manual, storage bag and accompanying cables (2). IMO, this is a new item! The original screen protector still was on the unit. No marks anywhere. It's as if no one even touched it. I highly recommended YIT-BathroomOutlet as one of Amazon's trusted sellers.UPDATE: Installed LED DRL's for the 2015 Honda Fit and initially used the factory DRL fuse junction (#25). That made all the lights go on and shut down the instrument cluster. The Autel stored the codes and showed U0155 (Lost communication w/ instrument panel Cluster). Erased the code and re-scanned. No more codes and all the yellow warning lights are off. What a time-saver this tool is, plus, saved $'s from going to the dealer to have it diagnosed.UPDATE 2: Just diagnosed our nephew's 2002 MBenz C240 Wagon. It had a check engine light on. Cause faulty gas cap!!!!

Like it but would buy a different one if I did it over.
Low cost, it gets the job done, and has saved me lots of money, so ultimately I like it. I have used it several times on three cars to diagnose and repair a number of issues, like ignition coils, maintenance codes, and such. However, navigating it is a CHORE. It's not very intuitive and the unit has a very cheep, lightweight feel.Once you get your codes, a search on the web yields what needs to be addressed. The user interface is marginal, but like I said, it gets the job done. Getting the codes in the first place is cumbersome, with sub-menu after sub-menu. I found myself getting lost in those sorts of things from time to time. The buttons are something like stiff bubble wrap in their feel.Because of my savings over repair shops, it's not a 'bad' deal at this price point. Objectively it's an excellent payoff, many times over versus what I would have paid at a shop for the same repairs. But I would also pay more and get something with a better user interface if I could do it over.
