Works like you would expect
I bought this when I built my old PC and it has lasted me to this new one as well. This is a solid disk drive if you need one for your PC. I only used this to install the original drivers I needed for my PC but it does work well to play CDs or DVDs. I have had mine for almost 6 years with no issues.

Good drive, bargain price !
What can I say,,, It's a DVDRW that burns M-Disks as well ! Replaced an old lg DVDRW that would no longer read or burn video disks which is my main use for an optical drive. I've done no tests, nor do I care to bother, and havent timed my burns so I have no numbers to offer but I can say this. It burns at least as good and as fast as my old LG super multi before it went bad and cost about 1/4 the price ! After about a dozen burns I have had no errors using Verbatim DataLifePlus disks.

Inexpensive capable device.
Building a new system for general computing and needed an optical drive to load the OS and software. This drive was the least expensive with decent specification. It worked for it's initial purpose. There seem to be some longevity issues, according to some of the reviews, so I'll be keeping an eye on it. It's working well so far.

Compatible with older Mac Pros!
Pretty darn good as far as optical drives go. Just as fast as any other drive, maybe a little noisy but I like to know it's doing something when it's supposed to be working. My "Super Drive" in an old Mac Pro tower (3,1) kicked the bucket and I needed a replacement. You'll read a lot of articles about the incompatibility of optical drives with Macs, but I took a chance on this one. After running a SATA cable (sold separately, this replaced an IDE drive) and getting a molex to SATA power adapter (also sold separately), it worked without a hitch - no additional drivers necessary. The drive mounted easily to the Mac Pro's removable optical drive bay carriage. I also had to pop the front cover off the DVD drive to get it to work with the Mac's weird optical door mechanics, be even that came off easy without breaking anything. Happy I bought this model!

Works Perfeclty
I've always liked LG products. I've never had a bad experience with them, from flip phones (remember those?) to TV's to DVD players. I purchased this optical drive for use in my first custom-built PC. It arrived quickly as it's Prime eligible, was packaged well, and began working as soon as I hooked it up to the motherboard and power supply. I'd absolutely buy this product again, though by the time I need to replace it we probably won't be using many DVD's anymore. I really don't have anything negative to say. It slid right in to my computer case's first optical slot very securely, is very quiet, and plays CD's and DVD's without fuss.

Straight Forward DVD Drive, Plug n Play
No reason to give this DVD drive any less than 5 stars. It is simple, plug and play, and hasn't had any difficulty reading any discs I have put into it. I am able to rip DVD movies with a 3rd party program for my personal use in about 15 minutes. The rips have had no skips or issues of any sort. When playing DVD's, the playback is smooth as could be. For a very simple drive, this is a great choice.

Does Not Work With Windows 8.1
Don't know if it works with 8.0. Tray opens and closes nicely though. This is more an indictment v. Microsoft. This drive was to have replace a blue ray drive that Windows had dropped support for. This is likely a good product at a good price.....but no wonder the price is low.

Noisy, but works
Ordered this for a new computer. It worked (mostly) as advertised, packed fine, and installed without problems. However, I would note that it is quite loud when it spins up to run. If I am reading any CD or DVD, it will do three "spin-ups"--each increasing in length and higher in pitch--to where it SOUNDS like it's running fast. I've not noticed any performance issues at all, but the noise is a turn-off especially since it is by far the loudest part of my computer. I don't believe I've ever worked with a DVD drive that was louder than this one when it ran. Unless you are watching a DVD on your computer, it probably won't bother you...but if you are, it will probably be an irritating whine you'd rather get rid of. Fair warning! Here's hoping the noise is not an indicator of a short life-span.
