You can remove the bowl and still use the scale. Just take the bowl off and if the weight is not zero, push the tare button and it will change to zero. There is no sensor.

Plastic. Most of the time I remove it and use a small plate or paper towel, depending on what I'm weighing. I like the scale.

Q: can you please tell me if it measures in gram and kilogram?

Yes. It measure in kilograms and pounds. Here's the capacity: 2kg/4.4lb and the sensitivity is 1g/0.1oz meaning that's the least amount it will register. There is a button on the scale that allows you to switch between lbs and kgs. It works great. I have had it for more than a year and use it every day. Hope this helps.

Q: What size is the bowl? Oz. lbs?

By volume, it holds 3 cups of water. I also weighed some fruit I had and the most it will display is up to 5 lbs. After that it shows and EE on the display. If you're interested, the size of the bowl is 7 3/8" across the top, 2" high, and 5 1/4" diameter rim at the bottom.
