Texas Tackle Split Ring Pliers are as good as it gets. I have two of every size they make. I give them to my fisherman friends as gifts. They are the best tools out there.

There are several things I like about this item: 1) The spring in the grip/handle is very useful but it is one of those things that people take for granted after a while. 2) The grips are a good size for me and are non-slip. They feel very natural in the hand. 3) That little wedge in the tip of the jaws is tapered so it will open the split ring wider than other pliers that I have. This makes it a little easier to use. These pliers are "patented". On what, I don't know. They don't seem all that different that other that I have. They are just easier and more comfortable for me. Like all the other split ring pliers, they are made in Pakistan. Don't let the title "Texas" fool you. You will need to pay for the shipping & handling.

Unlike the previous reviewer I received the right product. I frequently change and upgrade hooks and split rings. This is my second pair. The first pair is just fine but I decided to get a second pair so I have them along when I take extended fishing trips. I love them, they are durable, functional and set the standard for this type of tool.

Great Split Ring Pryers ! I buy hard baits that typically come with treble hooks, which I like to trade out for single hooks; easier on me, and easier on the fish. My fingernails aren't nearly strong enough, and several other fishing pliers with split ring noses either didn't work at all, or were a pain to use. You don't want to slip when holding extremely sharp hooks. Finally ordered these Texas Tackle Split Ring Pryers and am pleased to report they work great. They are not designed to be your only fishing pliers, their sole purpose is opening split rings so you can change out hooks, and they excel at this. Wish I had them sooner. Wish they were made in Texas, not Pakistan, but they are quality and get the job done with a minimum of drama. I'm still going to try the Toits which are a unique cylindrical design and will update this review when I do. If you need to change out hooks, order these, you won't be disappointed.

These pliers work very well on small through medium size plugs. Wasted my money on several other stamped metal split ring pliers over the years. With the Texas Tackle pliers, replacing the treble hooks on my Crystal Minnow lures from the tiny 2" model up to the 5 1/4" model was a breeze. Can't believe I've been struggling with split rings for years... NOT ANYMORE! Nice tight construction on the pliers. Can't say for sure just how rust resistant they are at this point, but the polished stainless steel should stay rust free if I take care of it. The hardened jaws didn't show any signs of wear or blunting (point on top jaw) after use on a lot of split rings. Excellent quality. Would've paid double the $ if they were made in USA.

This high quality tool makes it easy to open split rings to add hooks, flashers, and other things to fishing tackle. I purchased one years ago for my fishing gear in New York and just purchased another for my gear in Florida. Highly recommend.

These split ring pliers have prevented countless punctures to my fingers. They are small and light weight, easily fitting in a pocket tacklebox or bag. The box joint is perfect for resisting the twisting motion needed to open large split rings. I have tried them on the smallest freshwater rings as well as those on large saltwater jigs and plugs. It perfoms equally well for any size ring. The handles are spring-loaded and are comfortable. I even like the color, which makes them easy to spot in my often cluttered mass of gear. I change the hooks on almost every lure I buy, so this little tool has really made that task easier and safer.
