This book is 230 pages packed with color photos of cigar box guitars, kalimbas and ukeleles, all home-made. The creativity of the human mind is on full display. The last 66 pages depict the making of a cigar box ukelele, with step by step photos. There's also a few pages of brief biographies, with photos, of cigar box instrument builders. I find this book very entertaining.

A coffee table book about CBGs.
This book is 60 percent pictures of intact, closed up CBGs and 30 percent a rebuild of a ukulele. There are no guitars opened up so you can see the internals. There is much to learn, and many decisions that must be made, concerning the design, construction and attachment of the neck within the body. you won't find that here. IMHO too many of the guitars were chosen for their oddness. Two string guitars with two broomsticks for a neck. It might give you a few clues about decorating tips and found materials. It is not an educational guide for a builder or player.

Pictures & Help
The front part is pictures of lots of interesting stringed instruments. In color! Lots of ideas. Starting on page 164 it walks you through the construction of a cigar box ukulele. Not much different from a CBG. Good information. Think I’ll keep it!
