They're on some other kind of sizing chart
I'm a fairly big guy. 6'2 about 230lbs. I've ordered various items just like this from Amazon before and never had an issue. The ones I'm wearing right now are XL track pants I ordered from an bacon and they are even just a little big on me. Imagine my surprise them when I opened these and could barely get a leg into them. I thought they may stretch but that wasn't to be. I honestly wonder if some mediums didn't get accidentally mislabeled. I've been too busy to worry about a follow up with the seller but when I contact them if the issue is resolved easily I'll adjust my score. Would never recommend their product though.
