Excellent resource!
I wish I could buy 100 of these books & give them out to every teacher & classroom Instructional assistant I meet who has a student with a disability (not just for those with ASD!) As a speech pathologist there is a lot of info in the book that I may have already come across prior to reading this book, but it still gives many great ideas, even to a seasoned therapist! There are many considerations to be aware of when working with people with a communication disability- how the difficulty producing & understanding language can effect a person's behavior, their learning & quality of life. In both of the author's books she gives examples/ideas to address these. The text isn't full of overly technical terminology & gives really great ideas of a variety of visual strategies to help people at different levels of ability. I highly recommend both her books (the other is focused on visual strategies to improve behavior) The author, Linda Hodgdon, an SLP, also has a great website with weekly newsletters available (she also does seminars, etc.)

Glad to have it and it is a great source
I had purchased this book in its first edition and found it very helpful. I gave it to another teacher to use with her special needs class. Now that I am in a different working setting I found I needed the book again so I reordered it after getting a newsletter from Linda Hodgdon that a second edition was available. Glad to have it and it is a great source. Would recommend it to any special education teacher or SLP who works with these populations.

Great Book for Visual Aids & Ideas
I found this book extremely helpful when creating visual tools for my students. Visual tools are great to keep students focused, minimize interruptions and transition to different activities. The ideas and suggestions provided work great for children with and without disabilities. You will definitely use this if you buy it.

Not impressed
There were not enough visual images in the book and examples. Also, there were no colors in the book, only black and white. I think this text could have added a visual gallery for teachers to use, but instead it only told what to do. I dont think I will be adding this to my professional library.

This book was a waste of $
I found nothing in this book other than suggestions of what to photograph to show what you're trying to convey.
