This is really a great starter kit!! The instructions are clear and easy to understand and it pretty much comes with everything that you need. Except for the dye, but I chose to keep my soy candles their natural color. Other than that, all you need is a pot for the double boiler and a spoon to stir! It says to wait 24 hours before burning but a lot of Soy Candle Makers actually recommend waiting 2 weeks so the fragrance oil and soy wax can cure. I suggest making sure you have some rubbing alcohol and paper towels on hand to clean the equipment as soon as you are done pouring. Just wiping it out with rubbing alcohol cleans it and gets any left over FO out of the pot and off your thermometer and spoon. Everything is already weighed out so you don't have to worry about having a scale and weighing everything at first. I would suggest buying one if you plan to make more tho. It's really a lot of fun using this kit and making soy candles!!

This is such a great set for beginners! I had never made a candle before and it was so simple. The instructions that came with the set were very clear and easy to understand. I think it's a great value for all that you get. The only thing that I had issue with were the scents. The Grapefruit & Mangosteen was the best! It was fruity but not too strong. The vanilla was too much. I would use only half of the 1oz bottle for 1lbs of wax. It doesn't smell like a natural vanilla but more of a sickeningly sweet cupcake. I tried adding whole cinnamon stick and clove to the vanilla which might have worked if I hadn't used the whole 1oz bottle. The lavender smells like fake, flowery lavender but much better than the vanilla. I haven't tried the last scent because I'm afraid of it. It already smells too strong in the bottle. Even though the scents were not the best to me, I would still get this set! Its great way to experiment and learn.

Great value kit to kick start candle making. It has everything you need, andthe instructions were easy to follow. I could beleive how easy it was to use. One Pound of waX fills three of the 8 oz cans. I wanted to melt some of the other candles I got as gifts that never burned down completely, so this whole kit was a handy spartan for me to recycle old candles! You can use other oils, but make sure you stir it well before pouring into the cans, as it leaves a little streak. Love it. These cans look like they are totally reusuable, just need to get new wicks. And I maDe some for gifts once I started the process. Very very easy to use.

Good intro kit if you're intimidated about candle making, which I was. I think I could have done better if I'd bought the components individually, but I was too confused about the whole issue to do that, and at least this kit got me started. The main thing I'd change is the wax melting pot. A regular double boiler does a far better job. In my opinion, the kit would have been a much better deal without the pot (and with a lower price). There are also a couple of unnecessary accessories--little stickums for fastening the wicks into the tins, when short pieces of double stick foam tape will do just as well for a tiny fraction of the cost. Or, some people use a glue gun for the purpose. All in all, a better, more economical kit could have been assembled, but at least this got me off the ground.

This kit is GREAT! It containse everything I needed to make some Christmas gifts in a couple of hours. The scents are all delicious, and I'm picky about bottled scents. Most smell like... bottled crap. These are beautiful! Very happy with this kit. The only thing missing was enough wick bars to make all 12 candles at the same time. I had to improvise and use scotch tape to hold my wicks upright since there were only enough bars for three candles. If there were 12 bars I'd call this kit PERFECT. As it is, entirely worth the money if you have an interest in learning how to make candles or looking for a complete set to bust out a few gifts. Nice! (Oh! Can you make a kit like this with holiday smells!?)

Purchased this in September but just recently used so I could use the candles as Christmas gifts. They all turned out AMAZING and the oils that come with the set smell wonderful. I did purchase additional essential oils to make my candles smell more unique. My boyfriend helped me make candles and I think he had more fun than I did...haha. I would recommend this as a gift for the DIY lover in your life.

I was a total candle making newbie and so I thought I should get a set that would really help me learn. The visual instructions included are PERFECT. The wicks, wax, pot and scents were great as well. My only complaint is once I made these once - I got it. It's very easy. So then when I looked into getting more supplies, I realized this set is pretty overpriced. I would suggest instead watching a YouTube video and then buying the wax, pot, scents and wicks you want separately for better pricing. This set also comes with tin containers but I wanted to fill my own vessels so I had no use for those.

Instructions are provided and it is so quick and easy! It only takes an hour to make and to make clean up easy, I would put down aluminum foil and wrap it up and throw it away whenever I'm done. I love it. I've made some candles and gave them out as gifts, and it feels so personalized. I would go to the local resale store to look for some cute tea cups. Definitely gotten a lot of compliments. Sustainability and zero VOC (Volitile Organic Compounds) are important to me and because these are soy based, it was definitely the main selling point. However, I am unsure about the scents and their chemical composition as to whether or not they emit VOCs. Overall this is great and I am already running out of the 4 lbs of wax they provide in the kit. Would definitely order more.
