Great pen for detailed line work
I think this is the kind of pen, you either love it or you hate it. I love it, but it is not without upkeep. Occasionally I forget about it for a couple of weeks, so I just run the tip under warm water and it comes back to life.

Novelty Items and it works well
I am collecting two things, pens and watches. This is a novelty item and reminding me of my set from when I was in high school. Few years ago, I had a hard time trying to buy this pen on Amazon and I can only find them from a bidding site. I was overjoyed that I can buy this pen now on Amazon.Rotring makes great quality pens and I owned a variety of the technical drawing pens and also their fountain pens. All of them are working to the standard that I am expecting out of Rotring.Note: If you are not used to writing/using technical drawing pens, then this pen is not your daily use pen. If you press a little too hard, you will ruin the small needle and making it unusable or worse bending the needle.

l 'My shipment contained a Rotring Isograph “made in West Germany”
The first technical pen I bought was bought in the Former Yugoslavian Republic Montenegro. This was four years before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Because the clip has “Rotring W.Germany” and the packaging has Made in West Germany I am now owning the exact make of the Pen I bought in 1985. I’m not complaining- I prefer the Isograph over Rapidograph, the performance of the pen is exactly of the quality I expect from the Isograph.

reliable and durable
I really enjoy the Rotring pens and the reusable aspects, for office use and academic work the isograph, art pen, and mechanical pencil are performing great. Additionally, it does save significant expenses in the longer run, I don't need to buy a new pen/writing tools every couple of weeks and there is some satisfaction with the feel of the ink spread on the paper for writing, doing calculations, and technical drawings.

Better than Koh-inoor Rapidographs.
They are better made, ink flows right away and I think they have a lifetime guarantee. Someone correct me if I'm wrong about the latter. The best deal is on Amazon - the College Set .20, .30, .50. Incredible packaging, comes with a mechanical pencil, leads, ink and a few other cool doodads. Check the price on Amazon. I got the College Set for around $46 which is roughly $15 a pen. You can't beat that anywhere.

Classic technical pen
I have been a fan of technical pens for a long time, and use them for fine detail drawing and writing. Of the many brands and styles that I have owned nothing compares to the Rotring Rapidograph. It gives a smooth line without flaw, and is much less likely to jam or need cleaning than any other I have used. I highly recommend it. Go figure why it is not available in the US anymore, but ships from Japan. Some advice: If you want continuous use without jams, I recommend storing the pen tip down. If the flow diminishes, rinse the tip with a little soap.
