Excellent Sounding Cab with a 12" Celestion Greenback Speaker
A few years ago I bought a Peavey 20MH Valve King head, wanting something that was smaller than my Marshall stacks, but tube. I tried different cabs, including my 1960. But still the idea was getting something smaller, something I could more easily transport. That's why I bought that specific head. it's a 20 watt, 5 watt and 1 watt head. Finally I matched it up with this cab. The Peavey 16ohm 112-6. Which utilizes a 12 inch Celestion Greenback speaker. Not a Valveking. Like in most of their other tube amps, which I also own. Which sound pretty good. But I prefer Celestion. Anyway, this cab has a full bodied sound. I've played a Marshall 50 and 100 Watt head through this cab, as well as the Peavey 20mh, at 1, 5 and 20 watts. highs, mids and lows all come through very well. Clean is sparkling, and muddy is gritty as you want to go with this cab. So if you are looking for a good cab with a Celestion 12inch, closed back, give this baby a whirl. The only negative I have for this cab, it doesn't come with wheels. A minor problem and easily correctable. A few bucks at the most. Also doesn't take up a lot of space.

It's pretty good for an affordable cab
I bought this cab about 2 years ago. I'd say it's quite a steal for $129 US, despite a couple of flaws. It's your standard 1x12 cab, with an all black, all American metal vibe and a Peavey Blue Marvel 12" speaker inside. The Speaker is indeed a Peavey Blue Marvel but it's unbranded and practically unmarked on the inside. The back panel says it's rated at 16ohms and 40 watts which might entirely be true but I searched for this speaker very diligently online, and the results that I pulled showed a speaker capable of 70 watts and 8 ohms. So who truly knows. I know that the Blue Marvel in it has a very dark and muddy tone to it. It was a life saver when I was dead broke and desperate for gear. Today though, I've upgraded mine with a Celestion Vintage 30 which honestly sounds leagues better. I also installed wheels onto it's bottom so I can roll it around. I play it with my Peavey 6505 mh and it sounds spectacular. I feel this is a great starter cab. Buy it when you're young and broke, put a little micro head through it like an Orange- Micro Terror or a Joyo- Zombie or whatever and you've got a pretty great and affordable practice rig.

Seems ok
I liked Peavey stuff but I only heard about their amp and older USA made guitars. I would buy this unheard if it was a bit less money. I would get it now for $90.00. Just too unknown for over a hundred and I would hook it to a Vox 2 watt night train amp that came with a nasty 10" speaker. Amp is good to go once you dump the Chinese tubes. I bought great tubes from Amazon.

Good for jazz guitar
I have a dv mark jazz amp head 50 @ 8 ohms and 60 @ 4 ohms . I have 2 (2×8) dedicated cabinets from dv mark that go with the amp head. But I didn't want to carry too much stuff so I purchased this speaker to use with the amp head and since the head is light I leave the speaker in church. I just carry my guitar and the head and just plug in and away I go. For a 1×12 it is warm (with the right settings that is) for jazz guitar. Even though the amp is more watts than the speaker it won't hurt it none per Rufus. The speaker is not heavy to lift and loud for jazz guitar. I recommend this speaker for small to medium clubs and venues. For larger venues I suggest you mic the cabinet or line out from the head. Peavey is good stuff.

Great bedroom or speaker-swap cab!
This is a great budget closed-back cab, particularly if you want to swap speakers to tailor your tone. The "generic" Blue Marvel 12" speaker is fine if you like bright American-sounding speakers and low wattage crunch, but it is rather quiet at 96.7 db sensitivity. Per Peavey Customer Service it is an unlabeled speaker made to Peavey's Valveking 12" 16ohm specs (except lower wattage, 40w vs the "labeled" USA Blue Marvel's 75w). At low 96.7 db sensitivity, almost any replacement speaker will increase loudness of your amp significantly, so this a great bedroom setup with the stock speaker (a typical 100 db sensitivity replacement speaker would double perceived volume!). The actual speaker specs via Peavey: 12" 16 ohms impedance 40w continuous / 80w program / 160w peak power cap. 96.7 db/1w 1m sensitivity 70 Hz - 6.5k Hz freq. range Paper cone with treated paper edge 1.75" / 44.5 mm voice coil diameter Voice coil material: 2 layers, thermally bonded copper wire, high-temp polyimide former, Nomex stiffener 8 lbs. / 3.6 kg

Well built
Not sure why everyone is rating this so low because the speaker isn't labeled the way they expect. It's a fair quality speaker and about what you can reasonably expect at this price point. If people would stop listening with their eyes they might actually grasp that. I bought it for the cabinet and immediately put a WGS Retro 30 in it and it's fantastic. The cabinet is built well and doesn't rattle at high volumes. Before I swapped out the speaker I tried the original one it was OK. Again, as good as you have a right to expect at this price point.

Was not what they said it was. Was not ...
Was not what they said it was. Was not a Blue Marvel Speaker. But a piece of junk Valveking Speaker. I am a big Peavey fan. Very Disappointing.

The internal speaker is not that bad, it will do the job. Its tone is like a speaker from the Eminence family but the output is not very efficient so you cannot match it with a very efficient speaker. But it is not bad at all. I've replaced it with a Celestion G12h anniversary and it is now a very good small cab. It is not the bast cab that I have ever own but it is another add on in my small cabinet collection that is worth keeping.

I bought this speaker cabinet just for the enclosure and had a Celestion Greenback ready to swap. I soon found out the back is almost impossible to get off with out destroying the cabinet. When it finally did rip off it tore apart some of the inner wooden frame and tolex. Peavey is now gluing the backs on, in what I believe is an attempt to hide the cheap unbranded speaker inside. Shameful.
