Really helpful little tool
This little device really worked! It helped to keep the tires in line and really close to the wood. Highly recommend this little tool. Cost is a little much though. You also need to put gentle pressure and don’t pound the wheel and nail.

Simple, works, fraction of the cost of other options
This is a very basic solution to the need to get the axle inserted at the proper angle the first time. I've helped my sons build plenty of cars over the years without one. Now, working with my grandkid, this thing makes it so easy.

Good product!
I was happy with the tool, but the axle slot groove on the bottom extends the entire tools length. So after installing the first wheel you have to adjust the tool to get the second tire on. If the manufacture would cut the groove slot by half it would solve the problem. Rated 4 stars because it's still a good product.

Did the trick
Easy to use and worked great! Glad I bought this. Much easier than trying to install wheels without one. I would recommend this product for Pinewood Derby cars.

Essential for Pinewood Derby- Best purchase ever
Last year we struggled getting the axles on our son's Pinewood derby. It took forever to get them right and the wood started to split. I am pretty sure my son learned some new words from his dad. during the hour we struggled to get the wheels on without destroying the car. This year I purchased this tool because i figured it couldn't make things worse than last year. This went above and beyond my expectations. In less than 10 minutes (which included reading the instruction and finding a surface to rest the car on ) all 4 wheels were on straight and fitting much better than last year. My husband high-fived me as he praised this tool. So this tool works and reduced my husband's stress. If you have never built a pinewood derby car or have had issues putting axles on, buy this and save yourself the headache.

It Works, But I Still Feel Like I Need a Second Tool
This axle inserter guide is a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, it technically does what it's supposed to do: it helps you get the axles into the pinewood derby car body without splitting the wood. And for that, I'm grateful. The built-in spacer for the wheel gap is a nice touch, and once you get the hang of it, you can achieve a fairly accurate setup. The reason for the three stars, however, is that it's just not as "easy" as the product name suggests. The tool is a bit too flimsy to get a truly confident grip, and I felt like I was constantly fighting to keep the axle perfectly straight as I tapped it in. The plastic flexes just enough to make you second-guess yourself, and I ended up having to double-check my work with a separate alignment tool anyway. It's a helpful guide, but not the magical, one-and-done solution I was hoping for. In the end, it's a useful tool that's better than nothing, but it's not a foolproof solution. It's a good starting point, but don't be surprised if you find yourself needing to manually adjust things afterward.

Made the last step of our derby car a success
After spending a few hours with my son on his first pinewood derby car, I didn't want to mess up the last step of inserting the wheels and axles. This tool really helped, especially after I found a video on YouTube that demonstrated it. I was worried that other reviewers said it didn't work on both sides, but it worked fine for me. The nail sits on the top of the axle slots, so the inserter guide of the tool still works when you flip it. For the first side, I just used firm pressure pushing down on a hard surface (making sure that I kept my thumb firmly applied to the tool to keep the inserter guide in the right place). I would check periodically that the nail was going in straight and slightly adjust if needed to make it straight before continuing. When I flipped the car to do the other side, I made sure not to push on the installed wheels. To do the final bit of hammering (with the back of a screw driver), I set the car between two boards so that no pressure was being put on the wheels on the other side. That allowed me to tap the nails until the wheel was flush with the spacer on the tool. It all went smoothly, and I'll use this tool for future derby cars. Good purchase!

Don’t build your car without this.
Excellent tool. Axels withstood crashes where other cars list wheels.
