VDO332103 Vision Style Voltmeter Gauge 2 1/16" Diameter

Bought it to replace the built in voltmeter on my BMW R100RS motorcycle that had gone out of calibration and also become erratic, physically it proved to be a perfect fit although I had to modify the bikes wiring a little bit since it was not the original. Unit seems well made and durable, numbers are easy to read, and the look matches the original 33 year old instrument very well. Before installation I checked its accuracy on a fully charged battery and then crossed checked with a multimeter and it was good. Included instructions are clear and easy to follow. After installation I noticed that the meter voltage read a bit lower than the battery voltage, ( by about 1/2 volt ), but that was due to the resistance in my bike's wires, my old instrument never had that kind of sensitivity when it was working right. It looks like the needle movement is dampened and that is a good thing, should help the instrument last longer by absorbing road shocks and voltage spikes. I bought the analog meter because I wanted to keep the classic bike look, a digital meter would give better accuracy and resolution, but this one is more than good enough for normal use and will give me an early indication of any electrical problems, Will just have to wait to see how it holds up over time, if it lasts 33 years like the original I will be very. When compared to an original voltmeter, the price is very good, - I would never pay the kind of money that BMW wants for their meters.

This works just fine and didn't immediately break like the much more expensive one I got from Autometer.

Good looking guage, I like the mounting and backlight feature. Doesn't zero out automatically when power is removed, instead it slowly drifts back down to 8 or 10 volts, has to be tapped to zero out.

I have an electric car, and needed a gauge to monitor the battery voltage. The car is a Tropica, with twelve six-volt batteries, nominally 72 volts. I had not noticed that the lower end of the gauge was not zero. I tried to put the meter in series with a dropping resistor to increase its range to what I needed, and because of the nonlinearity, it does not work very well. It probably would work fine for a car with an ordinary 12 volt battery.

Good fit & easy mount screw on back. Nothing to install just find a hot with ignition in acc or on position & wire away. I bought this after getting a ammeter and found they are a pain to install on a rear battery/engine vehicle. This was a breeze & gives me the information I need.
