Gorgeous Cabinet. They are exceptionally well built. I started with one, not sure if I would like it. I loved it! I quickly purchased a second. They have made my room complete with the mid-century look and the addition of some puck lighting. The size of the cabinets is perfect for our room. I am going to add lamps to the tops. The fact that they are thick, solid wood makes them very sturdy and of good quality. We did not find the cabinet difficult to assemble. I laid out all the pieces alphabetically, then, as I read the directions to him, I handed my husband the parts he needed. Voilà, my husband and I had them together in one hour each.

This bookcase is fantastic! It's very solid, real wood, great size and perfect for books and various other items you'd like to display. The color is a nice dark brown and fits perfectly with my other furniture. I built this myself and it took around 2 hours with not much difficulty. It's very heavy and sits in place without any concerns of it tipping over. Everything was in great shape on delivery and came in a very large box. No scratches, cracked pieces, dings or any issues at all. The stickers were a lot different and smaller than the ones in most of the review photos and very easy to remove with some rubbing alcohol. This bookcase is perfect!!

I had been considering this bookcase for quite a while, so when it recently went on sale I decided to pull the trigger. I had held off because I was looking for something taller, but overall I am very happy with the purchase. Assembly is reminiscent of the slightly less expensive IKEA furniture that I had earlier in life, though the aesthetic of this product is far superior. The wood panels of this bookcase are denser than MDF or particleboard, but the wood surfaces are more susceptible to scratches and dings than melamine so be sure to lay down a few blankets if you're assembling this bookcase on a hard floor. I was disappointed to find that this bookcase is held together in places by cam lock hardware, and I was further disappointed in the flimsiness of the provided nuts. While wood panels hold cam lock screws more firmly than MDF panels, the cam lock bolts that came with this unit seemed to be made with unusually thin metal. As a result, three of the bolts broke during installation. Fortunately, this bookcase comes with a bag of spare hardware so I was able to continue with assembly. In addition to using more robust cam lock bolts, I would also recommend using bolts that have a groove in the track to give a tactile "click" to indicate when the cam assembly is appropriately tightened. This could also help to reduce loosening of the assembly when the bookcase is moved. Overall, given the discounted sale price and the quality of the wood panels, I am very happy with my purchase of this bookcase. However, given the assembly quirks that make me question the longevity of Simpli Home furniture, I may not be willing to buy some of the more expensive pieces that I've been considering.

This is a nice bookcase. It's made of rubberwood, which isn't used for fine furniture, but is a hardwood somewhat similar to ash or maple in terms of density and ability to take a stain. As solid wood, it's definitely a step above particle board and veneer. Anyone who examines it closely isn't going to mistake it for a vintage piece of mid-century modern furniture, but it really does look the part and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. It's quite sturdy, and the pieces fit together snugly and securely. Assembly is a bit time-consuming -- it took my son and me the better part of a couple of hours because there are a lot pieces to put together -- but it's not complicated and the instructions are clear enough. It looks great in our living room. All in all, we couldn't be more pleased.

I like that this unit is actually wood and not particle board, engineered wood, or MDF. I like that this unit is very sturdy. I like the style of this unit and that's why I bought it. I don't like that the manufacturer placed a huge sticker on the unit that I may or may not be able to remove completely because the adhesive is very sticky. There are also other little stickers to identify each piece but most of them became hidden during assembly. A few I'll still have to remove and the adhesive used is a powerful one, so hopefully I won't mar the furniture's finish. I don't like that the manufacturer wants me to use tacky orangy looking plastic plugs to cover up the holes where the screw-cams are. Using these plugs would really cheapen the look of the unit. I spent another $13 dollars on another website to buy actual wood plugs that I will stain and use and throw the plastic ones away. I don't like that the backing pieces of the unit are these very rough to the touch thin pieces of wood--at a minimum, they should have been stained with a polyurethane stain to smooth out the finish. I will opt to not use them, as they don't add stability or improve the looks of anything. I don't like that for the money I paid, that I also had to built this unit. Luckily, I've built many similar pieces of furniture so it was just a tedious and time consuming task. Other consumers may not be that experienced and could very easily get frustrated and/or not assemble the unit correctly. Since the unit is heavy, other consumers may also accidentally injure themselves if they cannot lift it safely once it's finally built and has to be put upright.
