Great value for money.
brilliant! designed as a conversion from 1 to 3 sockets, but also has punchout holes in the corners for mounting direct to the wall if using as a spur to your ring circuit. I added three of these to a bedroom, one either side of the bed and one a little further towards the main socket. Started with furthest away, run a cable out through the knock out hole on the side and connected to the next, joined this to the next and then to mains ring circuit. I've seen comments about difficulty with the screws on the connectors, but this applies to all electrical sockets, if you undo it too much it will fall out. take your time, undo just enough and see if the wire goes in, if not just loosen a bit more until it goes in snugly. Its a sturdy bit of kit, brittle? yes, but most socket boxes are, if your not careful, when breaking out the ports for the cables. All in all, i am delighted with these items, easy to put together and work well, very happy to recommend, and will buy again.

Not the best build, but functional
Not the best build, but functional. The terminal screw fell off and went into the product, I had to dismantle and reassemble the thing. Very fiddly to do, I saw the building inside, not a patch on the existing one by Wickes it weas replacing, but the switch failed on that after 25 years and it was out of stock of course! One thing I noticed is that it is impossible to get the 13A fuse out, it is stuck in so tight it there for life, unless you dismantle the thing (and maybe throw it away) I tested this with a professional socket tester after re-build it is fine now. TIP: take care undoing the terminal screws they are MUCH SHORTER than other similar units

For converting existing single-gang to three gang
I've bought two of "these" before however this one is slightly different in that it is designed/intended to convert an existing single gang to a three gang. I was still able to use it as I'd intended (wall mounted switched three gang extension lead effectively) however the plastic is incredibly thin and brittle. The faceplate screws into brass threads embedded particularly thin posts and one of them broke with around 5mm of thread still to go. Managed to glue and strengthen the post sufficiently to secure the faceplate but definitely not on par with the previous two.

Fits on single back box.
This socket fits onto a single back box by a plate.[incorporated] but also can be screwed to background walls and other features. Plenty of room to work on wiring.

Easiest way to change a single gang socket to a 3G socket.
Moved into a house, which due to its age had loads of single gang mains sockets throughout. As an alternative to the mess of chasing out walls to change them to double sockets, this product comes up trumps. Protrudes from the wall just like a standard surface mounted box. Secured to the wall by using the socket mounting screws from the old SG box. If your existing cable is too short, simply extend a bit with snap-fit connectors - there's loads of space to push them out of the way inside the old pattress box. Electrically, it's a bit like adding a spur to an existing socket and it's fused for 13A. However, you can extend the ring completely (or connect it if your wires are long enough) by using 'double' wires, i.e. extend the ring by using 4 way snap-fit connectors and connect the whole lot into the socket. Excellent alternative to messing about (and the mess) of completely changing out a 1G socket to a 2G or 3G.
