The Reptile Basics Radiant Heat Panel is great for heating your snake’s habitat. Unlike other heating methods, these panels cannot burn your snake even if they touch it; yet they still emit a significant amount of heat. Panel mounts easily to the inside top surface of the cage. A thermostat must be used to avoid over-heating the panel and for temperature control. We offer both the Vivarium Electronics VE-100 and the Vivarium Electronics VE-300 as appropriate choices. Measures 12.5"x12.5"x1.75", sealed ABS housing for easy cleaning and disinfecting, stainless steel screws for easy mounting, 6’ power cord. Power plug is attached after panel installation so that the power cord can be put through a small cage hole. Radiant Heat Panel is thermal fuse protected and carries manufacturer’s 10-year warranty. We have also included a bottle of our Chlorhexidine Solution 2%; 1 refill makes 32 oz. of working solution – just add water! This is the best cleaner for your reptile’s habitat; used and recommended by exotic animal vets for cleaning your cages and other habitat items. Basically, you spray and wipe and then if your reptile licks where you just cleaned, it won't hurt them. Great for daily maintenance cleaning as well as monthly cleaning from top to bottom. See also our Carolina Custom Cages’ listing for “Chlorhexidine Solution 2%; 32 oz. Sprayer, plus 2 refills” and our listing for “Chlorhexidine Solution 2%; 3 refills make 32 oz. each of working solution”. Carolina Custom Cages is a division of Carolina Designer Dragons, Inc.; a boutique breeder of bearded dragons, selections on our website.

Company support sucks and misleading discription
First off, Iwanted to use this for a small snake enclosure (30inches by 30 inches). I was told this is the right size for that size enclosure. I was also promised that the plug part clipped on after installation meaning I'd only have a very small hole. This was not the case.First off, I did not have the plug clip as promised on amazon discription and in the directions. So I contacted the company, send them a pic of the instructions I received, and they just said "Those instructions are for the old style heat panel. You have the new style. You should have different instructions that came with the panel inside the box." This is after clearly telling them and sending them a pic of the instructions I was giving. It also took them several days to respond.I did however soft install it and tried it out. I used a thermostat as directed and the hot spot quickly got up to the disused temp. However, the cool side of my enclosure was reading the same as the hot spot. I asked (before buying) if this size will for my 30x30 inch enclosure and was told yes, by the company. I'm glad I never put my reptile in there as it turned the whole enclosure to 90 degrees. It should be used for larger or longer enclosures only!Overall I'm upset that I wasted time and effort making this thing work, with both the overheating of enclosure and the crappy company support. To recap, this product discription is inaccurate in that the installation is now different, and this is not ment for a small sized enclosure, and the company support is vague and slow to respond.Don't buy unless you want to deal with a bunch a bull.

Highly recommended
Was running 2 100 watt ceramic lamps in a 6x3x2.5ft tank now down to just this and it actually doesn't run all the time because how sufficiently it heats the tank. house is very durable and wouldn't harm your reptile.

Works good!
Works great, heats a bigger area than it says it will to 80 degrees, and has been working great for about a month now.

Great product, but I suggest ordering directly.
I've been using Reptile Basics Radiant Heat Panels for a few years now. (both 28 watt and 40 watt panels) and I prefer these for all of my reptile heating. The only time they aren't the choice to go with is when using a reptile rack. Now I will say the new model isn't exactly a step up in my opinion, I prefered the old model with the attached power cord and the plug being attached after installing the panel. The new version has the cord plug into the heat panel, which requires a larger entry hole (as mentioned in the other review). Which is a real pain in the butt, another issue with the newer design, the stiff plug in is unable to be tightly secured to the ceiling (if so desired) removing the ability for the reptiles to climb ontop of the cord.. Otherwise these panels are excellent. I use 28 watt panels in Vision 221s (dimensions are 28"x24"x12") controlled with a Vivarium Electronics thermostat in a room that is usually in the 66-69 degree range, and they provide a hot spot of 90 and the cool side is raised up to the high 70s low 80s. The 40 watt panels are in Animal Plastic T8s in the same room, providing a similar hot spot and gradiant.

Good product but cheaper elsewhere
Better pricing if you order direct. Price here is very inflated even with the disenfectant. Good panels though. Thermostat is a must and proportional recommended. Running these at 100% all the time will burn them out really fast.
