An excellent G-Shock watch for "Ocean Enthusiasts"
This is a truly gorgeous watch in the G-Shock line. As a guy that lives in a beach town, its "G-LIDE" functions were exactly what I was going for. And, as a former lifeguard (way, way back in college!), the "Red Rescue" variant was one that I definitely wanted to have. As a G-Shock, it sits at the upper-end of sizing but still less than some of the larger watches out there. So, how will it sit on your wrist? If you have a wrist sized at 7.25" like mine, then the pics I've attached to my review will be exactly what you can expect. I find that it's truly a comfortable watch to wear and has some great features to it. Overall, it's definitely a win! I've put in why with my categories below. Comfort = 5/5 Yep, it's truly a comfortable watch to wear. With my wrist sized right at 7.25", it fits nicely in the 5th notch from the top of the watch (see the pic above). The flaps sitting just under the dial makes for an excellent fit on your wrist, too. That is a HUGE win when you're in the water. It just fits really well. Comparing it to my DW9052-2 (also reviewed on Amazon), I'd say that this is equal to comfort. I can (and have) slept with this watch on overnight and never had it feel uncomfortable at any time. The watch gives enough heft to let you know that you're wearing a watch BUT it never feels heavy. Appearance / Aesthetics = 5/5 And, the watch just looks COOL! Yes, it really does! When you match it up with its "Rescue" features, you feel that it has the DNA of a lifeguard. The red primary color with the black buttons makes it an attractive watch that never feels overdone. The white lettering is a nice touch, too. Casio could've just made the letters black but the tri-color design truly works. Functionality = 5/5 Considering its "G-LIDE" functions and G-Shock's usual countdown timer, 2 stopwatches, alarm, and World Time features, this is truly a winner. I found the setting of the watch to be easy, even plugging in the Tide and Lunar cycle information. The instructions show you how to plug in values with tables at the end of the booklet. However, to be truly accurate on your Tide and Lunar Cycle (e.g., Lunitide) information, I recommend consulting a dedicated resource on the Internet. I used a combination of info on 2 websites (tideschart.com, surf-forecast.com), a Lunitidal Interval calculator (lunitidal-interval.com), and an iPhone app that I bought to bring the most accurate info together on the watch. It asks for your Longitudinal and Interval info when you set up the watch. And, it's easy enough to change when you visit different coasts. The backlighting works very well and all of the buttons are easy to push and responsive. Transaction Experience = 5/5 Amazon's Seller, "The Watch Locker", came through quite well with this purchase. They walked away with a 5-star rating from me for their delivery of the watch (right on their promised timeline), the condition that the watch arrived in (new in the box with all of the original packaging), and the watch is an authentic G-Shock (verified personally). The price of the watch was definitely competitive and worth every penny. Overall, this watch is an excellent addition to the G-Shock line and I am personally very pleased to have it in my collection. I also have the black version of the "Rescue" line which also comes away with an identical assessment to the red. However, if I had to choose between the two of them, the red one comes away as my favorite because, IMO, it truly comes away with the feeling that it's a "Sea Worthy" rescue watch. TIDAL ACCURACY UPDATE After wearing this and my black Rescue watch for several days, I found the tidal indicator to be inaccurate with my locally-verified Lunitidal values. However, I found the "secret" to getting the tidal bar to be completely accurate. After calculating your Lunitidal Interval, add 7 hours to your value in the watch and your tidal graph should now be accurate. My watch has been completely accurate for the last 2 days. So, an example is where your Interval is set to 2:26, you would add 7 hours to that for a new value of 9:26. I hope this helps any of you that noticed the same inaccurate tidal graph reading.

Debating between a Gulfman or G7900 or looking for a red G-Shock? The G7900A-4 is awesome!
I have been eye-ing the Casio G-Shocking Rescue Red G7900 for some quite time. Casio has released several colors of this G-Shock, one being a limited edition negative display of the red version, but other colors such as white, olive green, black, and another black but with yellow display. But what caught my attention is the moon and tide graph. I have a Gulfman and G-Lide and the tide and moon display for the G7900 was one of the best I have seen out from Casio thus far. The display is nice and clear, not many obstructions as you get a circular moon tide graph on the upper left, tide graph on top and on the right, you get stop watch modes (for stopwatch 1 & 2). The larger display is the time and date. Of course, aside from the cool display and what really pulled me in was its red color. The red bezel and band really pops and love the black highlights throughout the watch. Unlike other G-Shock red watches that have orange, this one is red and black and really enhances an outfit (especially if you were a lot of dark colors, especially black and blue). This watch definitely compliments an outfit. As for the back case, it is stainless steel and you get the usual G-Shock Resist on the back. The battery used for the G7900A-4 is one lithium battery (CR2025) which lasts approximately 2 years (normal usage). Accuracy at normal temperature is +/- 15 seconds a month. Now, the band for the Rescue Red is also awesome looking! It doesn't have a shiny look but more of a matted resin look, which I like. The band is quite comfortable, but while not as perfect like the Mudman strap, it still fits comfortably on your wrist and at the base of the strap which connects to the case, there is a black guard that goes over the bumps of the band. Some people complained that watches with those ridges near the base hurt their wrist, so I felt that it was smart for Casio to include those black plastic guards on the back. I. THE FUNCTIONS The G-7900A-4 features the moon and tide display on top. Day indicator on top and at the bottom is the time, seconds and date. Pressing the illumination button on the front gives you an aqua light which is the blue and blue/green illumination that many G-Shocks do come with. This G7900A-4 has two EL (electro-luminescent) panels that cause the entire display to glow for easy reading in the dark and also comes with an auto-light switch, if set, by a slight angle movement will make the light turn on. I have this turned off because I want my batteries to last long! You can set illumination from 3 to 5 seconds. The modes that come with the Casio G-Shock Rescue Red G7900A-4 is: * Timekeeping Mode * Tide/Moon Data Mode * Stopwatch Mode (ST1) * Stopwatch Mode (ST2) * Countdown Timer Mode * Alarm Mode * World Time Mode (48 Cities/29 Time Zones) The stopwatch modes have a display range of 999 hours, 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds and there is auto-start. As for alarm mode, is good and audible. You can also mute the tones as well. II. THE BUTTONS The buttons are black and flat and not steel and have a feel similar to the Mudman's but of course, where the Mudman's are designed to keep mud out and takes much more pressure (and for some people, much harder to press), the buttons are easy to press on the G7900. There are four buttons and for the most part, one should not have problems with selections. III. WATER RESISTANCE The Casio G-Shock Rescue Red G7900A-4 is marked at 20 Bar which means and this means you can go scuba diving and snorkeling with it. IV. TIME & MOON GRAPH DISPLAY The Casio G-Shock Rescue Red G7900A-4 features a circular moon graph on the top left of the display. The moon phase indicator indicates the current phases of the moon as viewed at noon from a position in the Northern Hemisphere looking south. The watch performs a rough calculation of the current moon age from day 0 of the moon age cycle and the margin of error of the displayed moon age is +/- 1 day. The tide graph has six graphic segments, each of which indicates tide level. The tide graph displayed on the watch is based on the current moon age. The greater the error in a particular moon age, the greater the error in the resulting tide graph. IV. OVERALL I absolutely love this watch! It scores high on style (looks great if you wear a lot of black or darker clothing), high on comfort and the display, is stylishly cool, especially if you are looking for a larger tide display on a chunkier watch. The functions are awesome and you really get a lot for your money for the 7900 (I paid $64.99 during the holidaysfor the Rescue Red but they typically sell for under $90) and you can often find various versions on sale on Amazon by Amazon or third party fulfilled by Amazon as well. It's important to note that some people have received their G7900's in the tin G-Shock cases, I did not. Mine came in a black standard G-Shock cardboard box. The manual as usual with Casio G-Shock releases are quite thick, especially for this watch. There is really nothing negative that can be said about this watch. It's simple to set (if you are used to G-Shocks), otherwise you get a nice thick manual in various languages to peruse. The watch looks great, it is comfortable and Casio went all out in making sure that those who care about moon and tide displays get a cool watch. Also, the fact that you get the guards on the base of the straps is a plus. I have to say that while the Gulfman was created for the sea and has a pretty cool tide display, I prefer the Rescue Red over the Casio Gulfman in terms of aesthetics and also, it's a 20 bar watch, so you can go deep sea diving with it. I do recommend purchasing Vinylex Quick Wipes (or spray) to keep your G-Shocks protected (since Resin does tend to harden or crack if not cared for). But in the end, I have to give the Casio G-Shock Rescue Red G7900A-4 a pretty solid rating. For those looking for a red G-Shock, this is the best out there in my opinion. It's not too flash, it's stylish and cool. But most importantly, it has a lot of the features that make it a pretty awesome G-Shock. Highly recommended!

G7900 --- its not an old design, it's a classic! and the RESCUE RED updates it!!!
the CASIO G7900 series have always been substantial watches both in size and features. this particular RESCUE RED model stands out not only because of its color, but more so for ambience it wraps the wearer in. jeans and a long-sleeve shirt or shorts and a tee really pop if one wears this watch! it is not just a watch, IT'S A FASHION STATEMENT! now, for the watch itself. the G7900 holds no worries for me, as i have other watches of this range in different colors. the controls, while it may daunting to a newbie, does have a learnng curve, but once you read the manual thoroughly, one can get the hang of it pretty quickly. my other G7900s have been in deeper water, banged about, messed with, basically gone through the wringer, but all have managed to pull through unscathed. these are watches that you can wear and "forget", unlike others that you have to keep an eye on to avoid damage, both cosmetic and structural. the design itself, while visually-busy for some, is actually well thought out --- the time is easy to see and the other features are not buried in the clutter of other watche-faces. the four screws give a somewhat industrial-grade look, the strap "wings" on tge qatchband itself manage to raise the watch body just enough off my wrist to preclude sweating or "grab"; this simple feature makes this watch one of the most comfortable to wear, actually. this is, however, a chunky watch --- it is not for the sartorially faint-of-heart, as this screams to be noticed. you WILL get a lot of compliments, OR looks of disdain, hahaha! but NOTICED? oh, you will be! the watch itself, while a major part of this transaction, is only half the story --- the seller was more than prompt in delivery, as i got the watch in two days! i read other reviews before i purchased this one, and mine did come in the G-SHOCK tin and box. order with confidence from this seller; i assure you, you will not be disappointed! the G7900 may be a rather dated design for some, but this RECUE RED version sure updates it.

You can never go wrong with a G-Shock
It's a G-Shock. Sturdy, durable, great looks and size. Display is very clear and readable. My wrist is 7.25" in circumference and it fits me well. With my size wrist I buckle the watch using one of the holes in the middle of the band. Nice bright color will definitely get you looks. Once I un-boxed the watch I had the time set in about 6 minutes total and that was by reading the included instructions. Had I done it on my own it may have been a little quicker. Yes, the instructions are small, but come on, they provide detailed instructions in several languages in one small book. My experience with Casios, and watches in general, is you don't need the book after the initial setup as you will tend to remember the procedures later so who cares if you have to get out some cheater glasses to set it up initially. I have always had good luck with Casio G-Shocks and I usually wear them out before they die on their own. With the color schemes that are now offered I don't see a need to buy any other brand of sport watch. I know what I'm gettting with a G-Shock. Quality, functionality and great looks.

Fresh and bright
Loves this watch and out of all the Rescue Series G shock line this red color way was just too good looking to pass up. I live on the beach on the south eastern coast of the United States. I enjoy surfing and fishing both of which I need gear that will be able to stand up to the constant weather demands and loads of salt water. All my G shocks have always held up to the ocean no problem. The one thing I don’t like about them is how difficult it is to change things like time or date and it comes with thick booklet of instruction because you will defiantly need them. The red color is bright and the watch face stands out with the moon phases setting and tide chart. Great watch for life guards or anyone that dreams of the beach on the daily. Will be enjoying this watch for many years to come 👍🏻

Wonderful Watch! My Daddy Loves It!
My daddy loves his watch we gave him for Fathers Day!! He loves everything red and this fit the bill !! Now I went to college to program computers.... and I’ve handled payroll for 20,000 employees for years ... but I still have trouble setting hand watches. It’s those horrible little books that always get me!! I did manage to set this one without getting a migraine, though!! It was actually quite refreshing. So another Plus!! Another great feature on this watch is the wristband. My daddy and I both are unable to wear most all metals as they turn our skin green. Well the wristband on this is a wonderful sturdy plasticy material and the back of the watch is stainless steel— just fabulous!!! (stainless steel is what all my really cheap rings from eee bay are made of that never turn my skin green) One thing that could be a little bit of a bad thing for those of y’all that are fisher people.. the tide calculations are only completely correct in select cities. The codes are in the back of the book when you set the watch when it comes time to set the tide function on the watch. Because of the way the formula works to calculate high and low tides, only certain cities in the world are listed in the back of the book. They have only listed those specific locations will be completely accurate when using the watch for the high and low tide functions. They do not have each location for the entire world listed in the teeny book. I hope that makes a little sense. This is a fantastic watch and I very highly recommend it to any and everyone!! My daddy has received many compliments and has many friends that have the same kind of watch, but wish they had it in the red color: I hope y’all enjoy your watch— which ever one you choose- as much as my daddy is enjoying his new watch!! Take care!!

Excellent
I love it. I bought it for my birthday. It’s a little difficult to set up for the first time. The reason is the instructions are written pretty small, but the red is gorgeous. I want the orange one and the blue one also. Those are next on my list.
