Sight Words - Level B
I'm using these cards with my 3 1/2 year old who is starting to learn to read. There are 54 cards, mostly 3-6 letter common words on the front and back, 108 words total. The package states that sight words don't follow phonics rules, but some of these words are arguably phonetic in pronunciation. Still they're good to review often as they're very common words and he should be able to pick up on them quickly when reading a book. I'm also using them to help build sentences. Since he can't quite write the letters/words yet, the cards are laid out in a line to form a short sentence that he can sound out or pick up from memory. I also have a tabletop pocket chart from Smethport that they can fit into. These are used in addition to the level A and C set. Here are the words included in this set: after, again, always, an, any, around, as, ask, baby, ball, because, been, before, bell, best, both, brother, buy, by, call, children, cold, could, day, does, doll, don't, every, fast, father, first, five, fly, found, from, gave, give, goes, going, green, had, hand, has, head, her, him, his, how, its, jump, just, know, let, live, made, many, may, more, mother, number, off, old, once, open, or, orange, over, people, please, pull, purple, put, read, right, round, sing, sister, sit, sleep, some, stop, take, tell, thank, their, them, then, these, think, those, tree, upon, us, use, very, walk, warm, wash, way, were, when, which, why, wish, work, would, write, your

Great cards for my 1st Grader
The cards have been a great asset to my first grader and they have helped her with common sight words. Cards have improved her reading skills and phonics as well!

NOT a toy, but serious help in reading
We were asked to raise an 8 yr old grandson who has some serious issues. At 8, he couldn't read and could barely write. It wasn't his fault as medications had dulled his abilities. We took him off all meds, got him off all sugar and started to work on his reading. We found we had to start from scratch. Phonics helped him learn to sound out words and figure out what words might sound like. We bought these sight words cards to help him with words that don't follow the rules. They were very helpful and he caught on quickly. In 1 year he was reading above grade level and these cards are a part of that success.

Pretty good
The size of the cards is really good. I wish they were leveled a little more clearly, and aligned with standard sight words by grade level. But overall it’ll get you there. They are durable, easy to read and priced right. You can pull cards and customize a lesson. Does the ii.

Great learning tool
These are a great learning tool for your child....they really work and the kids enjoy it! I bought this to teach my 4 year old to read and learn sounds, within 1 week she could read and recognize all the words. I've since bought the other levels and numbers and my daughter is doing great reading her own books. Simply cover up the word and let your child start pronouncing the word one letter at a time.

Note the different levels
These are great cards, lots of words front and back - I did not pay attention to the fact that they had different levels so I started with level C for my 4yo...not a good result! Level A is great for her learning to read though.

Good investment!
I purchased two sets of these to make my son a sight words book for First Grade. He already knows his kindergarten sight words and he can read/sound out new words rather well, but I wanted to make a "harder" sight words book so he would feel super prepared for First Grade. Wouldn't you know, he already knew every word in this deck? We're so proud of him! I can't comment on how well these cards hold up with time and use because I stick them to paper that is then put into a page protector and then once I've used up both decks the protected pages go into a folder but these cards seem sturdy and are nicely printed- very vibrant colors and slightly slick like playing cards.

I took my youngest son out of public school this year to homeschool him. He is autistic and dyslexic so he really struggles to learn to read, but I found these flash cards to be very helpful in getting him familiar with these words. I certainly don't recommend flash cards as the only way of teaching your child sight words. Different font types in books can be very confusing for a child, and they often get stuck on words that they are really good at reading on flash cards. This set is a really good tool to help your child get used to the words. But honestly, recommend working with your child on the same sight words in different arenas, so they get used to the multitude of font types.

Very useful, granddaughter enjoyed using them . They secured her knowledge of sight words and were used as an aid to spelling.

I bought it for my students. I know I’ll be able to use it in my class, and it will help the kids learn to read. I’m excited to use it!
