Great power, good system with extra capacity batteries
I have had Ryobi 18V system (pretty much all of the one plus pieces) for years, but lately have had battery issues.Regular Nicad batteries didn't last long enough on high drain tools (hint, anything that spiins more than 5000rpm).Used Ryobi high cap lithium batteries; but have had problems with them failing.Bought this dewalt system as an upgrade... what an improvement. Drill is more balanced, significantly more power, even when compared to the hard to find 3 speed Ryobi 1/2 hammer drill. If you do a lot of heavy work, this is drill you need.Stay away from th Compact 20V max drills if you are a heavy user....they are smaller and lighter, but the compact batteries that come with them don't last nearly as long. There is a similar kit... the DCD985L2.... it a full size drill vice compact, but comes with three amp/hour batteries...the ----------------------DCD985M2... is same kit but with four amp/hour batteries.haven't found the 4 amp/hour batteries a Lowes, but bought an extra online for about &90 so I would have three...The battery life with the 4 amp/hour batteries is great. Also bought the 20Vmax skill saw and very happy with it too.

Built Like A Tank, Torque Like A Diesel.
Absolutely fantastic. That's all I can say about this drill. The 4Ah batteries make this thing a bit heavy, but you never have to charge it!! I have used it a couple times a week for two months now and have still only charged the batteries once. This drill also has a TON of torque. It can seriously hurt you if you're not careful. However, this is definitely a good thing if you want to use the drill as an impact wrench (like I do). Just turn the torque setting to something other than drill or hammer drill and it removes lug nuts like a boss. The hard plastic case is what it is - nothing revolutionary there. I wish it had a bigger spot for some drill bits or drivers though, but not a deal breaker by any means.I would absolutely recommend this drill to any serious DIYer or home improvement professional.

Bought this to replace a similar 8 year old Dewalt hammer drill that was wearing out. Original batteries finally failed. In addition to normal drilling tasks, I use it to drill 6" holes in the ice. This one has torque to spare. I like the led level gauges on the batteries and the led light on the drill. It works as advertised. I think Dewalt makes the best quality units on the market and sells them for a fair price. You can't go wrong with this one.

This is my second Dewalt power tool. Both are Very Pleasing.
This is an excellent drill so far. I have not used the hammer feature yet. It is well balanced, has led light to light up the immediate work area. It has two batteries which is a must if you are using the drill continually. I like the brace handle, very effective when needed, especially when driving long screws. It charges in about 30 - 45 mins, the batteries have a power remaining light feature. It has a low speed high torque which is what you want for driving screws. A Very good hand operated chuck. All in All, a Very Good Drill.

I have to say this is by far the best drill I have used
Having been through many drills over the years, I have to say this is by far the best drill I have used. Using a unibit in 1/4 aluminum showed me just how powerful this drill is. Hot knife through butter is an understatement. It is a bit bulky but that is to be expected for the raw power it delivers.

I got this to replace a 18V hammer drill that I have had for a long time. This one initially blew me away with how much power it has, but at some point early on it's transmission seems to have a slight problem. It comes and goes. The speed selector is in the correct position. Possibly could be a clutch issue, but defiantly something. I would get another as I'm just guessing that this might be a bad egg. Other that that love the delayed off light and how much F'n power this has.
