I wanted to support a small business, but was sad when these arrived and were a thin gauge metal and not with a nice wide U-shape. Also, the ends are a little pointy. I was hoping they'd be more like the larger ones that Goody used to sell, so perhaps I am biased by that. They are also slippery so they don't hold well.If you have fine hair, or don't mind using several pins to hold your hair up, these could work. I just wanted something more sturdy.

I find these hairpins to be essentially the only thing that will hold my very dense long fine hair in place for long periods of time without pain, damage, or trouble removing them. I got two sizes: 2.5 inches and 3 inches, and I use them mostly for buns and milkmaid braids. Even the silver ones hide in my hair really well, and the stiffness of the pins makes it easy to place them without poking or putting pressure on your scalp, and the pointy ends prevent snagging when putting them in or removing them.You can spray the pins with hairspray to make them stick in place even better, but I never find that necessary. The finish on the metal is matte, so they are the tiniest bit grippy as a result, so they don't slide out of my hair like painted shiny pins do. These are SO much better constructed than the flimsy straight or crinkle pins from your local beauty supply store - I have been using them almost daily for a couple months and all of them look brand new. I used 3-4 pins to pin the bun in the photo, and they stayed all day. I need to wear my hair up for work in mask-compatible styles, and these pins make that really comfortable.

Heavy duty. These hold my hair. The pins sold in stores, thin bendy short hair pins, bobbby pins, even large roller pins, do not. I used to have very long hair and these would definitly do the job. It is shoulder length now, but still very thick. Nothing else holds all day. For housework etc I do a french twist type style, takes 2 min and stays all day. These would eaily hold a large coiled bun or braids in place as well. This review is for stainless 3 inch straight hair pins. Highly reccomend.

I discovered these hair puns about ten years ago and they are now the only pins I use. I have very long, thick hair and these hold my updos without tugging or snagging and they stay out all day long. I can pin my hair up at night and wake in the morning without having tangled hair or hairpins caught up and snagged the way rubber-tipped pins do. Yet these stay in place much better than Bobby pins w rubbed tips. You phase to place them properly since they do t “pinch” your hair like Bobby pins. But once you get the hang of it, you’ll never want to put your hair up with Bobby pins again. You can use these on wet hair or dry. They won’t leave crimp marks in your hair. They don’t rust or bend and don’t fall out and get lost all the time, so even though they’re pricier than regular Bobby pins, they don’t ha e to be replaced all the time. I’m a fan for life.

These was suggested by another friend with thin hair. I’m unsure how she was getting them to work but I never could. If you have thick hair, possibly.

I love these hair pins they are exactly what I was looking for my granny used to use ones like this to put her hair up and now my hair is really long and I need them to put my hair up on my head .. thank you to the amish people for turning me to these hair pins they are awesome

These are wonderful! They slide right into my buns like nothing and I have yet to hear a snap of a small strand of hair during the process. They really hold well. I love them!
