The Thing (Limited Edition Steelbook)

This is another great steenbok set from Shout! factory. three discs, 4k film and 2k documentaries. LOADS OF FEATURES. great cover art. I love these releases. worth the investment.

I bought this for my friend for Christmas as it is his favorite film. He absolutely loves it! I got to look at it before I gave it to him, and I must say I was impressed with the cover art as well. This is a nice copy of the film for any John Carpenter fan.

This is greatness in scifi-horror no doubt about it and the best remake ever and in a world of bad remakes,with the same title names,then all we need to do is just look for one of the greats named John Carpenter trust me!

As a big fan of John Carpenter’s The Thing, this limited edition did not disappoint. Worth the money I paid for.

very good film. one of the all-time best horror movies ever. maybe a remake of the old classic The Thing From Another World (1951) but it is the superior movie. Kurt Russell at his best & just one of few that him & John Carpenter teamed up for.

This is an impro6over Shout Factory's previous release - which was also excellent. There is a slight change in the white balance which aids in a true image of the 35mm film. The sound is just as good. Truthfully I'm not really a fan of the tin artwork but the transfer is great.

Firstly , why are people ranting and raving about how sweet the 4K movie is? It's not even real 4K. It's a 1080P stream DOWNSAMPLED from a 4K Print (John Carpenter's Scan). What's sad is how bad the 4K transfer actually looks compared to Dean Cundy's 2K scan that's on Disc 2. There's an ungodly amount of noise on the 4K transfer, very dull colors and if you have good enough eyes with an attention to detail you'll notice several artifacts that look like Gaussain blurred pixels and b-frames due to the ridiculous noise factor on the Disc 1 John Carpenter 4k Scan. What I find so bizarre is that they dedicated an entire disc to the John Carpenter 4k transfer but didn't even give us an actual 4K film to watch, what the actual F. It's still an excellent buy, however. The 2K scan is beautiful and looks better on a 4K tv than the 4K sourced transfer does! UNREAL! PS. You can get this steelbook directly from the FYE online store for around 18$. No need to sell your limbs to pay for the 50-60$ steelbook on Amazon... the resellers on here are gouging the heck out of the price and trying to screw you over. Just get it from the source instead, it'll be much more worth your hard earned cash. 4/5 because of the GARBAGE 4K John Carpenter scan.

One of the greatest films ever made, in a killer 3 disc set. One disc is a 4K transfer, the other two include a 2K version approved by the DOP, with various commentaries and cool extras. Both the transfers are amazing, and look and sound about as good as it's going to ever get. Do yourself a favour and buy this one while it lasts!

Great collector edition, two versions of the film 4K & 2k tonnes of extras. I replaced my old Blu-ray release with this one. Excellent art, 3 discs worth of cosmic horror.
