Charming patterns but I'd prefer more quilts
I'm a relatively new quilter, and came to the craft via a fascination with "modern quilting." I am a fan of Moda fabrics and think that their precut bundles (called "jelly rolls," "charm packs," "layer cakes" and so on) are brilliant marketing tools as well as practical timesavers for the busy quilter and sewer. So when I saw that a book devoted to Moda precuts was being published, I was very excited."Fresh Fabric Treats" contains 16 projects from many quilting designers who will be familiar to those who read popular quilting blogs and those who frequent Moda's free-pattern website (The Moda Bakeshop). Of those projects 7 are quilts, and there are some lovely ones, such as the April in Paris Quilt and the simple but effective Rock Island Quilt. For me, the book was worth purchasing for the quilt patterns alone. The rest of the patterns left me less enthused, because most of them are projects that I am not likely to ever make. A sewn book to hold blocks, a pillow that looks like a stamp, a jewelry wallet -- these just don't interest me. I would have preferred seeing a few more quilts and pillows instead of these smaller projects. On the whole, the book is lovely. The photography is luscious with lots of adoring photos of the projects and precut bundles. There are lots of detailed instructions and miniprofiles of the individual designers. As noted above, I would have given the book 5 stars if there were more patterns for quilts and pillows, or more smaller projects that I would be interested in making.

Fresh treats~Fell a little flat
My expectations for this book were fairly high. I follow several of the designers and read their blogs. I frequently check out the projects at Moda's Bake Shop. I was expecting all of the projects to be the *best of the best* of what Moda's Bake Shop contributors have to offer. I pre-ordered this book in January. I kept hearing about the book and couldn't wait to get my hands on it. It finally arrived in the mail and I immediately flipped through the book, and was a little let down. I was hoping for more fresh, *original* quilt patterns. Granted, I do really like the quilt designed by Rachel G. (psiquilt.com)and also the Wonky Nine-Patch quilt. I will probably make both quilts someday. And, the banner pattern is really fun and sweet. The Rock Garden quilt is okay, but I've seen at least a dozen other similar rail fence patterns. Sadly, the rest of the book was kind of so-so, in my opinion. I don't really enjoy making totes, bags, wallets, and "block holders". (Really? I don't need to spend my time making a block holder.) And, furthermore, some of the projects use Moda Turnovers. I thought Moda was discontinuing Turnovers. Sure, I can cut triangles, but why would Moda include patterns using them if they are no longer carrying them?On the UP side...the photographs are beautiful, the book is well-organized, there's something for everyone in the book, and it offers projects for all skills levels using pre-cut fabrics. And, the book is very reasonably priced for 16 project patterns. I sometimes pay 10 dollars for one quilt pattern, so this book is a good deal if you are looking for a wide variety of projects.

Good for a beginner
A lot of projects, several quilts, a few bags, table runner, jewelry storage and a few other items. The instructions are simple with nice pictures. All fabric requirements are listed as either charm packs, layer cakes, jelly rolls, or turnovers.I have not made any of the projects yet, but I'm planning to make at least 2 of the quilts and a tote bag.

Wonderful projects!
Moda has pulled together some of my favorite designers from ModaBakeShop.com to create this yummy book. The projects are laid out in an easy to follow format just like the tutorials you find on the website. Can't wait to make several of the projects for myself and Christmas gifts.

Not as I expected
I was rather disappointed with this book. The picture shows a colorful quilt and that is what I bought it for. However, browsing through the book it mostly covers other project like bags and pillows. It only had a couple of quilts in the book that I would want to make. If I had realized this I would have chosen another book.

Fresh Fabric T
Ordered this book for a class that I was taking. I have spent many hours paging through this book getting ideas and just enjoying the wonderful work that is pictured and the easy instructions to complete the projects. I completed one project out of this book for my class and it turned out very beautiful.

Food for the artistic soul
Easy to follow, bright and pretty book. The instructions are straight forward and the designs bright and modern. Excellent quality as is everything from Moda.My only regret is that I bought the kindle issue. This is one of those books it would be nice to actually flick through while having a cup of coffee.Lorna.

Fabric treats
I was disappointed with this book, nothing new and the projects were not very inspiring. Quite easy projects.

Not a very good variety of projects
The book is by Moda and I expected more than what it offers, not very imaginative nor exciting, basic quilt and bag ideas. I'm quite disappointed with my purchase and probably will not use this book.

Don't Buy For Kindle
The kindle version of this book is not great. The pictures are blurred and it's hard to follow. I wish I bought the book now and probably will.
