Incredible AI/Gaming Powerhouse – But Ditch Windows 11 for CachyOS
I picked up the ASUS ROG Flow Z13 GZ302EA (2025 model with the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395) expecting a versatile 2-in-1 gaming tablet, and the hardware absolutely delivers—once you replace the pre-installed Windows 11. Out of the box, this thing is a premium piece of engineering. The 13.4-inch 2560x1600 180Hz touchscreen is sharp, vibrant (100% DCI-P3 coverage), responsive for touch and stylus, and great for both gaming and creative work. The detachable RGB keyboard folio turns it into a surprisingly usable ultraportable laptop, while the tablet mode is perfect for drawing, media consumption, or casual use on the couch. Ports are generous for the form factor: dual USB4/Type-C, USB-A, full-size HDMI 2.1, microSD, and audio jack—making it easy to dock for external monitors or peripherals. Performance-wise, the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with its integrated Radeon 8060S graphics is impressive for an all-in-one APU. It handles modern games surprisingly well (often comparable to mid-range discrete GPUs in thinner chassis), benefits from the massive unified LPDDR5X memory (up to 128GB in some configs), and stays relatively cool and quiet compared to traditional gaming laptops. Battery life is decent for light tasks, and the build quality feels solid and portable (around 2.6 lbs with keyboard). That said, stock Windows 11 was a disappointment for me. It felt bloated, unstable at times (random crashes, driver quirks, aggressive telemetry, and background processes killing efficiency), and it didn't let the hardware shine. Gaming performance was okay but held back by overhead, power management felt inconsistent, and the overall experience was frustrating for a high-end device like this. The game-changer? Installing CachyOS (an Arch-based Linux distro optimized for performance). After a clean wipe and fresh install, this laptop transformed. CachyOS brings out the full potential of the AMD hardware—smoother gaming via Steam + Proton, better power efficiency, lower latency, and a clean, customizable desktop without the Windows bloat. Gaming feels more responsive, temperatures are more manageable, and the system just "gets out of the way." If you're comfortable with Linux (or willing to learn a bit), this combo turns the Flow Z13 into one of the most enjoyable portable gaming/productive devices I've used. The latest kernels and AMD drivers play very nicely here. Pros: Stunning, high-refresh touchscreen with excellent color and touch/stylus support Powerful AMD Strix Halo APU that punches above its weight for gaming and creative workloads Versatile 2-in-1 design (tablet + laptop modes) with good port selection Premium build and portability With CachyOS: Excellent performance, efficiency, and a bloat-free experience that makes the hardware sing Cons (mostly Windows-related, mitigated on Linux): Windows 11 felt sluggish and unstable on this hardware Speakers are average (typical for thin tablets) Price is premium (it's a niche device) Tablet mode can feel a bit heavy on the lap for long sessions compared to lighter slates Overall, if you buy this ROG Flow Z13, treat the Windows installation as a temporary placeholder. Wipe it, install CachyOS (or another well-tuned Arch/AMD-optimized distro), and you'll likely fall in love with it like I did. It's not for everyone—especially if you need seamless Windows-only software or zero tinkering—but for gamers, tinkerers, or Linux enthusiasts who want a powerful, portable all-rounder, this hardware + CachyOS is a winning combination. Highly recommended with that one big caveat!

Great deal for what you getll around tablet
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Epic Portable Powerhouse — A Gamer & Creator’s Dream! I recently picked up the HIDevolution ASUS ROG Flow Z13 and I couldn’t be more impressed. This device is truly in a class of its own — a stunning blend of desktop-level performance and ultra-portable form factor that makes it perfect for gaming, creative work, and everyday productivity. From the moment you power it up, the performance is jaw-dropping. The AMD Ryzen AI Max-series APU delivers blazing-fast responsiveness across everything from heavy multitasking to video editing and modern AAA games. The responsive 13.4″ 2.5K, 180 Hz touchscreen is vivid and smooth, making both gameplay and creative tasks a joy. @ROG What really sets it apart is how well it balances power and mobility. It’s thin and light enough to carry around like a tablet, yet it handles demanding workloads with remarkable grace — far beyond what you’d expect from a 2-in-1 form factor. The built-in kickstand and detachable keyboard add versatile usage modes, whether you’re working, gaming, or streaming. @ROG Battery life for productivity is solid too, lasting several hours on a charge during typical use. And thanks to the high-end build quality and premium materials, this machine feels every bit as premium as it performs. Trusted Reviews Yes, it’s a premium device, and gamers seeking the absolute highest frame rates with discrete GPUs might look elsewhere — but for anyone who wants a portable, powerful machine that handles big tasks and looks great doing it, this is one of the best gaming 2-in-1s you can get in 2025. Highly recommended for gamers, creators, and tech enthusiasts who want power without the weight of a traditional laptop!

Not for everyone but it's a powerhouse
Heavy to use as a tablet for long periods (even short periods too), but as a laptop it's ok on flat surfaces. Its top heavy, so you have to find the sweet spot. It will either slam shut or fall backwards if not balanced in your lap. It handles anything that I throw at it software/game wise. Having the extra disk space and memory helps. Battery life is horrible, usage may vary but don't expect a full day on batteries. HIDevolution did a great job with their mods (I got the 128GB memory and 2TB storage). Delivery was fast and arrived 2 days earlier than expected.

Nice
Just received my 395 2tb, 64 GB ram flow z13 today, so far so good. Very quick and responsive, fans are relatively quiet when running demanding tasks. Pretty satisfied so far, will update my review if I come across anything.
