This is the most amazing cheese!!! And it's lactose free! It is pricey, but I think it is well worth the price.

This is not a cheap cheese, but none of the really good cheeses are...Beemster's Vlaskaas is definitely a smooth and creamy textured cheese, but its not a soft cheese. Meaning that you can cut it into slices for sandwiches or crackers. It has a nice mild taste, not sharp, and a definitely richness when you melt it for things like grilled cheese sandwiches or with eggs or over veggies or pasta.Its certainly not as sharp as cheddar, but its also a bit more flavorful than harvarti or the average swiss cheeses. Sort of like a cross between an orange and a white cheese.

My absolute favorite cheese. Firm, creamy, unique taste. Wonderful with grapes or apples, crackers or pretzels, pairs great with red wine. Great for snacking or to put out for an occasion. Try it you won’t be sorry! It’s delectable!
