The base of their soaps are made with all natural olive, coconut, soybean, and corn oils and scented with a blend of all natural essential oils. Soapbox Soaps include organic shea butter and unrefined sea salt both of which provide natural benefits for your skin. What is the benefit of sea salt? Sea Salt is a natural exfoliant and is an important ingredient in every one of Soapbox Soaps bars. The texture of the sea salt is smooth to the touch so it can gently slough off dead skin cells, and soften tough skin. Sea salt is made by taking water from either oceans or saline lakes and letting the water evaporate to leave the salts behind, whereas table salt is mined from salt deposits in the earth and heavily processed to produce “clean” salt. What is the benefit of organic shea butter? Shea butter is extracted from the nuts of the Shea tree (Butyrospermum parkii), which grows in the savannah of Western Africa. For millennia, people have used it to protect their skin from the drying winds and sun as well as to heal many skin problems, minor cuts and burns. The shea butter Soapbox Soaps uses is certified organic and is included in every bar of soap they make. Shea butter has a natural richness in essential fatty acids, phytosterols, vitamin E and D, provitamin A and allantoin, all of which have been used to improve the general health and wellness of skin. Where are Soapbox Soaps products made? Their soap is produced in Michigan City, Indiana. Are Soapbox Soaps gluten free? Their soap is completely free of ingredients derived from gluten-containing cereals including wheat (including kamut and spelt), barley, rye, Malts and triticale. Are Soapbox Soaps palm oil free? Yes. Palm oil is an edible plant oil and is derived from the mesocarp (reddish pulp) of the fruit of the oil palm. It is often used during the production of soap because it is a highly saturated vegetable fat which is conducive of the saponification process. The use of palm oil in food products attracts the concern of environmental groups due to the concerns that the high oil yield of the trees have led, in parts of Indonesia, to removal of forestry in order to make space for oil-palm monoculture.
