Didn't work when connected to my TCL TV, which is what I bought it for. But it does connect to my projector. so I still have some use for it and won't need to return it.

TLDR: This adapter might not work if your Roku TV is still on a firmware version below 11.5.0, so make sure to update. I purchased a TCL 43S455 and a TCL 32S327 in November 2022. Both came with fairly old firmware out of the box (9.x.x, when the current firmware was 11.x.x). I purchased two of these adapters; one for each television. I used a Nintendo 64 and a DVD player, both known to work correctly, to test each adapter on each new television. None of the combinations worked no matter what I did -- no audio, no sound, nothing. Next, I performed a manual update of the TCL 32S327, which involved downloading the firmware from Roku's website, putting it on a USB drive, plugging that into the TV's USB port, and performing the update (which only took it to 11.0.0). The 32S327 still didn't see the adapter or any signal from either device. (I couldn't do a manual update for the 43S455 at all, because Roku's tool doesn't even acknowledge that this model exists, and the firmware installation fails as a result. Roku blames TCL for this, and TCL blames Roku. Neither company seems to be able to solve the problem, though TCL is at least *sort of* trying.) Next, I decided to connect the 32S327 to the internet via the mobile hotspot on my phone (so that the TV doesn't ever have the network name or password to my home wifi network). Lo and behold, there's a firmware update available (11.0.0 > 11.5.0) and after that finishes installing, the AV input adapter works perfectly. My Nintendo 64 and DVDs showed up exactly as expected. That 11.5.0 firmware update was NOT available through the Roku website; it ONLY showed up when I connected the television to wifi, which I didn't want to do in the first place. Thankfully, I then performed a factory reset to get rid of all the extra crap that gets irreversibly changed when you log the TV into a Roku account (which you are forced to do, with no way out), and the firmware stayed at 11.5.0 even after the factory reset. I'll probably wind up doing the same thing to the 43S455 if TCL and Roku can't get their crap together and fix the underlying problem. Prior to this last step, I had sent the seller of this adapter a question through the "Ask the seller a question" tool on the Amazon Orders page, to see if they had any advice. They responded quickly, which I appreciate. Normally I give 5-star reviews only when a product is truly excellent, but in this case, I am giving 5 stars because the product performs exactly as expected and because the seller is highly responsive and willing to assist.
