Q: what is the shelf life/expiration date?

I bought this in May of 2015. I still have a little more than half a bottle left and I use it a lot. A small dab is very very very hot and goes a long way. It is still has hot today as when I bought 5 years ago. I dont see any expiration or best use by date on the bottle or label tag. This blood expires when it finished.

Q: does this need to be refrigerated after opening

The quick answer is yes ... and no. Condiments like fish sauce, soy sauce, and hot sauce do not need to be refrigerated. They contain enough natural preservatives to be just fine at room temp. However, if you find that the flavor is not as robust or even hot as it was when you first opened it, I would refrigerate it personally. So depending on how many people use Satan's Blood Hot Sauce in the household, how long it sits in your pantry or on your table, or if you notice the above mentioned differences in both taste or weaker spice levels than yes. Q: What kind(s) of peppers were used?

I don't know what peppers they use it's a Chile extract here is the menu facture's phone number (561)848-2335. I highly recommend it just a few drops and I do mean just one or two drops 
