Report & Query Creation Using Cerner's DVDev, CCL and Layout Builder: Discern Visual Developer Release 2008.01

After joining Cerner, I needed a book to learn CCL, which I need to write queries. It's also a great language to have if you are looking for a IT job in the Healthcare Industry.

Very helpful and informative

I thought this text was a little spendy but it turned out to be helpful and was worth the purchase price.As with most technical books, I already understood a lot of the basic stuff and wanted to focus in on using Layout builder. I read the book just after returning from an instructor lead course on Discern Developer 2 & 3 and found a lot of useful information in the book that was not covered in class.So overall, I would recommend purchasing the book if you want to (more) quickly get up to speed on Layout Builder. I give it only 4 stars because (as with a lot of technical books) there are quite a few 'filler' pages (e.g. listing all the available functions) that I think were added to just pad it out a bit.By the way, this is not 'volume 2' - as best as I can determine their is no 'volume 1' or 'volume 2' - just ONE book.

THis is a very useful tool for the Cerner enthusiast that wants to get more than Discern Analytics will provide. It does take practice and due diligence but once you have built some basic queries or modify an existing one...you see the Cerner database opening up to you.

Very well written. Taking the techie explanation and and simplifying for the average person. Would love a newer version code release.
