Now a long time user of this product, the first purchase was from another manufacturer, but I see little difference in effect. Now to the nitty gritty of my experience overal. I am 79 years old, beat up from too much life, broken back as kid, active as hell throughout life, now having five joint replacements. A year ago or so, I was dragging myself around having lost my bounce and vitality plus I had nerve damage from the spinal injury of 70 years. I could not stand in one place for more than five minutes without extreme pain and then lose control of the left leg, in a shell, I was getting bad off. Also I was struggling with memory loss. In order to get a good analysis you must test old mice or old men, not the young ones. At 50 I could run a marathon, at 78 not. Within several weeks, my pain had gone away, I could wander around, stand around and now a year later have to remind myself of what I was then. I can and do walk several miles at a time and do not feel the fatigue. I logged off some property and worked hard, not as good as I once was, but loved working hard again. I have never taken a higher dosage, only 125 mg. To 250mg. Only know kicking it up to 500. This stuff works, it has set the clock back many years for me. After a year when I mention my age, folks cannot believe it, they see me as 20 years younger. I know, some will think this BS, but you old farts out there give this product or another a try, it might bring you around.

I have no complaints. In fifty years, if i'm still here to write a followup, we'll know that the pills did what they were supposed to. In the meantime, they have no bad side effects, and seem to have at least one good effect. I had an actinic keratosis (sun damage spot) which I recently had removed. In the month I was taking nicotinamide before I was able to get to the dermatologist, the sun damage spot seemed to be shrinking. I read later that Nicotinamide is supposed to help reduce those, and maybe this is the reason it was shrinking. These are expensive, but I plan to continue to take them. Edit - A year later, I'm still taking them, and plan to continue. I don't personally notice any difference but then, I'm in excellent shape, and am only a very young 64. I suggested that a couple of older friends in their 70s try it, and both noticed immediate improvements, and continue to take them. I think they benefit everyone, but the older you are, the more visible the benefit is. I believe NR is even more effective if you use it in conjunction with Time Restricted Dieting. In a TRD, you can eat whatever you normally eat, but you need to eat it all in an 8-12 hour window, and allow time 12-16 hours a day for cellular repair because the rate of cellular repair doesn't peak until 12 hours after you stop eating. NR has been shown to boost NAD+, and NAD+ is the mechanism for cellular repair. Thus, if follows that taking NR, and fasting 12-16 hours will work together. That way you will have more NAD+, and the NAD+ will be more active.

I switched from another brand and purchased these because of the price. It appears that brand doesn't matter as all of the primary ingredients come from the same company, Chromadex. There appears to be some valid science behind Nicotinamide (Niagen) but so far little or no proof with humans. I would be wary of the reviews that claim miraculous results in short periods of time as they are likely hyping the brand. However, based on the preliminary science I am going to stick with these for 6 months and see what happens! Its been over 6 weeks now with no adverse effects or measurable benefits. This is an expensive supplement, but maybe worth a try! UPDATE 2/13/18, I am about 6 months into Niagen, mostly with the HPN brand. I just purchased another 60 day supply even though the price is whacked out on all brands of Niagen, these included. I am staying the course as I lost about 12 lbs. due to better appetite control and I feel generally better. I started back at the Gym and find that my weight lifting strength and stamina are measurably improved.

I purchased this hesitantly for the potential anti-aging effects, expecting that I wouldn't feel or function any differently in the short-term. Accordingly, I committed to using the product for at least a year. On day 4 of use, I woke up with a 20-year case of rosacea looking 90% resolved. I had no idea why there was a sudden improvement, and thought the improvement would disappear as I went about my day. Instead, the improvement remained and a couple of days later it occurred to me that the Niagen might be a factor, since I'd had no other changes in diet or habits. At that point I googled Niagen and rosacea and found many claims that this product helps rosacea. Somehow I'd missed the rosacea claims, which is fortunate because my ignorance provides some assurance that the rosacea remission isn't a placebo effect or wishful misperception. About 10 days in now and the improvement has lasted. If anything, it's gotten even better. Moreover, I had a couple of glasses of wine last night, and my skin looks great this morning. Alcohol has been one of my triggers, so this is remarkable. I haven't noticed any other changes in how I feel or function, but the dramatic rosacea improvement is more than enough reason for me to continue taking this product.

I'm a former pharmaceutical executive who was involved in many clinical trials. Don't be fooled by the "clinical" data surrounding this and other products with Chromadex. The 2 small studies that have been performed show that the product is bioavailable and that it does increase NAD+. These are really bioavailability studies and not clinical studies. It indicates that the product is absorbed and increases levels of NAD+. It does not prove any clinical benefit. One might hypothesize that increasing these levels would have some beneficial clinical effect, but that cannot be assumed or claimed without true clinical studies looking for a defined, demonstrable clinical benefit, e.g., athletic performance, improved memory, etc. From a scientific perspective, all of the anecdotal "evidence" presented in these reviews are meaningless. The placebo effect is a real and powerful phenomenon. Plus, we all have scores of factors that can affect our perception of outcomes. Having said all of that, since I'm 68 years old and very active, I figured I would give it a try. I've been taking it about one year. Has it helped? I can't really say. At $79 for 3 months supply, I was willing to continue to buy into the hope. But at $105 for the same 3 month supply, I think I'll pass --- at least until they come up with real clinical results or if I notice a diminution of my energy levels and well-being.
