X5 - Waterproof 8K 360° Action Camera, Leading Low Light, Invisible Selfie Stick Effect, Rugged and Replaceable Lens, 3-Hour Battery, Built-in Wind Guard, Stabilization, Triple AI Chip Design

The first thing I noticed was the big improvement in low-light performance. It has dual 1/1.28″ sensors and three AI chips. Shadows now show detail, highlights don’t get washed out, and there is much less noise compared to the X3 or even the X4. They have now added a new feature in the last software upgrade called ‘Adaptive Tone’, which is supposed to improve even further, but I have not had a chance to try it yet. One of my favourite new features is InstaFrame Mode. It provides a ready-to-share flat 1080p video in selfie-view or fixed mode, while also capturing a full 360° file at 5.7K at 30 fps. So if you need quick social clips but want to revisit the full reframed version later, you’re all set. Then there's the replaceable lens design. I often worry about scratching equipment and have dropped my camera on several occasions. I don’t like to use lens shields as I do believe this compromises quality. Let's face it, with my DSLR expensive lenses of £2,700, would you put a £10 filter on the front? Well, I hope not! Being able to pop off and swap lenses myself, without having to ship the whole camera, is a total game-changer. Battery life and heat management have improved, too. The battery is more powerful, but the camera needs it, so it’s not going to last the whole day. It needs more power than the X3, and I think battery time is a little better on the X3. If I am honest, the cameras do as usual, get hot, but x2/x3/x5, I have never had any issue with the camera switching off. Now, let’s talk about PureShot in photos. This new AI-powered HDR-like mode blends exposures in one shot. The results are vibrant and crisp, with far fewer blown highlights. It works beautifully in low light, especially at night or in backlit scenes, without needing manual exposure bracketing. In short, upgrading from the X3 made sense because the X5 doesn’t just refine; it redefines. You get cleaner 8K and 5.7K footage, smooth 4K 120fps slow motion, InstaFrame convenience, PureShot brilliance in stills, waterproof durability, better audio with a built-in wind muffler, and easy repairability, all in the same sleek design. Here’s why I upgraded from the X3: Low-light boost: Much cleaner images with higher dynamic range due to upgraded sensors and AI. Paired with my pro ace 2 this X5 does it all. I love its versatility and the fact you can replace the lenses at home. Its been such a game changer for me when filming. The battery lasts for hours of continuous filming and the ai editing function on the app helps create quick videos to post. Its waterproof and tough. Ive dropped it a few times and never had any issues.

First foray into 360 video and have been blown away by the x5. I use it for personal use (not YouTube etc) and the picture quality is excellent. It really is simple to use and I have got some incredible footage I simply could not of got with a normal camera. The editing app is pretty easy to use once you have got used to it. It does get hot when using, I sent my original purchase back because I thought this was a problem, but it has never cut out and I have used it constantly over the last 2 months. I would definitely recommend it. On another note, I bought a carbon fibre 3m selfie pole off Amazon (Gutahare) it looks exactly the same as the insta one but is £40 cheaper.

Yes, the Insta360 X5 is a fantastic camera—a huge upgrade from my previous X3. Yet despite all the amazing capabilities you’ve probably seen in YouTube reviews, for the hefty £519 price tag, it might loose half a star. Read below. I previously had an issue with frame rates but Insta customer service got in touch and fixed it. Credit to a company that cares for its customers - not all companies are like that. Maybe loses half a star? For that price, I expect lens guards to be included. I mean, we’re talking about a 360 camera where both lenses are constantly exposed. Selling it without protection feels a bit cheeky. And cheap. Yes, you can replace the lenses now, but I still feel like those big, bulging, protruding, precious lenses need to be protected, and included in the £519 price. (I just forked out another £35 for a set of premium lens protectors.) But this is really is a great camera. FYI - DJI is about to release their own 360 camera (at time of writing in May 2025) so might be worth waiting to see what they come out with.

Top video quality, just turn on the camera and walk around with no skill required. Easy to use and edit using the 360 editing software. Once you understand the editing workflow, it is very easy to create a quality and fun video.

The Insta 360 x5 camera an amazing camera once you learn the right setup. Built well nothing like the Insta 360 1 which l had many years ago bigger better screen and sensor for better image quality and in low light. Does not always come out perfect but that could how you holding the Insta at the time. So mastering the use of the insta will give better video and photos. Now 8K so big but how many watch in 8K but does help when downsizing the video to 4K. As much more has been pack in you recording. New battery are needed as the Insta 4 battery do not work with 5. Which is a same meaning a whole new setup need with charger and batteries. The other extra tool mounts case and covers over the lens. Well old stuff can still be used, What l like about this one bigger screenful better in the hand. Image details are better not 100% better. But better and pure view low much better. But as long as said you have to know how to use the camera right other you find stitch lines appearing at time. Like the footage what come out of the Insta once setup right. Meaning less time is need post adjusting colors. May beed a tweet but not to bad to sharing on most platforms. Over well don't insta better upgraded compared to the 3/4 .... 360 spin round camera. Why not 5 these types of camera are costly not over £500 a lot on money for most like myself to buy one. But managed to get one reduce. Otherwise it would have been many months before l bought this Insta 360 x5.

Kamerayla sadece bir kılıf geliyor. Diğer tüm aksesuarları (selfi çubuğu, bisiklet klipsi vs.) ayrıca almanız gerek. Bunlar pek ucuz değil. Ama kamera süper.

I got into 360 cameras when the ONE X came out and loved them ever since. The X5 is a great camera and takes stunning 360 videos. Imported into a VR Headset they look great. For Multi-Media they are fantastic and the Free apps are the best. This is the best 360 for low light shots and the replaceable lenses are a game changer... Now they say 8K (4K sensors x 2) but the capture is circular so 15-20% of the sensor is unused by the lens so it is really 6.5k or so not 8K but still the images look great just don't expect to zoom in a lot in post because the resolution is just not there. Still, I only use this camera these days in place of my DSLR and action cams...

Von ihren technischen Aspekten her würde ich sie als eine gelungene Fusion der X4 mit den Spezifikationen der AcePro2 bezeichnen. Der absolute Game-Changer sind allerdings die austauschbaren Linsen. Sollte doch mal ein Missgeschick passieren, sie durch Steinschlag oder einen Sturz beschädigt werden, so kann man die Linsen nun sehr einfach selber tauschen, und muss nicht befürchten Tage bis Wochen auf einen Ersatz zu warten. Diese Wartezeit kann zwar, durch die Insta360 FlexiCare (X5/X4) bzw. Care (X3/X2) reduziert werden, aber ich finde die austauschbaren Linsen super! Apropos Insta360 Care Varianten, da die X5 auch die Insta360+ Cloud unterstützt, also direkt von der Kamera neue Aufnahmen in die Cloud hochgeladen werden können, gibt es auch die Möglichkeit in den Pro / Premium Varianten des Cloud Abos Care mit einzuschließen. Besagte Austauschlinsen gibt mittlerweile als Einzel- und Doppelpack. Zum als ich meine Ersatzlinsen geordert habe, musste ich noch zwei Einzelpacks bestellen. Daher seht Ihr auf den Bildern nur die Einzelpackung. Bislang habe ich sie allerdings noch nicht gebraucht. Auf der Produktseite bei Amazon, wie auch bei Insta360, findet sich ein Vergleich aller technischen Spezifikationen zwischen der X5, X4 und auch der X3. Daher spare ich mir diesen Teil. Für mich ist der PureVideo Mode, der gerade Aufnahmen in der Dämmerung bzw. bei schwachem Licht aufwertet, ein wertvolles Add-On im Vergleich zur X4. Hier kommt der etwas größere Sensor zur Geltung. Ihm zur Seite gestellt sind gleich drei sogenannten KI-Chips, die zum einen die Bildgebung unterstützen, als auch im Nachgang die weitere Verarbeitung in der Kamera. Die X5 hat daher als erste 360° Kamera (von Insta360) den InstaFrame Mode. Der macht es noch einfacher als die KI-Assistenten in der Insta360 App, neben einem 360° Video direkt ein normales reframed Video aufzunehmen. Genau, zur selben Zeit! Im InstaFrame Modus wählt man, unterstützt durch mehrere Optionen, die Hauptblickrichtung aus, oder lässt im SelfieView Modus die Kamera, das eigene Gesicht, oder das einer anderen Person in der Nähe tracken. Die X5 speichert dann das ein 360° Video (max. 5.7k+) und ein normales Video (1080p) anhand dieser Einstellungen. Das 1080p Video kann direkt von der SD-Karte bzw. nach dem Herunterladen verwendet werden. Zusätzlich erlaubt das 360° Video weitere Bearbeitungen und neue reframed Videos. Stichwort Download: Die Aufnahmen bekommt man von der X5 entweder über die WLAN-Verbindung zum Smartphone/Tablet in die App, mit der SD-Karte im QuickReader, oder über eine Verbindung per USB-C. Oder eben, indem man die Kamera mit der Insta360+ Cloud koppelt und in Kombination mit dem Ladevorgang die Dateien in die Cloud laden lässt. Auf diese kann dann mit der App (Android/iOS) oder Insta360 Studio (Max/Win) zugegriffen werden. Bearbeitungen der Dateien in der Cloud werden auch dort gespeichert und man kann 360° Bilder / Videos sehr einfach über Cloud-Links (incl. Passwortschutz) mit anderen teilen. Was aktuell noch nicht möglich ist, ist mit Studio (aktuell ist v5.7.2) oder der App (v2.8.1 Android / v2.8.2 iOS) lokale Dateien in die Cloud hochzuladen. Die X5 unterstützt, wie schon die Vorgänger, externe Mikrofone, auch solche mit Timecode wie z.B. das Rode Wireless Pro. Neben der Verbindung per USB-C können aber auch Bluetooth fähige Mikrofone verbunden werden. Für die komplette Kompatibilität schaut bitte bei Insta360 nach. Mics die ich persönlich verwende, sind per USB-C: - Rode Wireless Pro - DJI Mic2 - Insta360 MicAir mit Receiver und 2 Sendern Per Bluetooth: - GPS Mic Remote (offiziell GPS Preview Remote with Mic) - Insta360 MicAir - DJI Mic2 Ehrlich gesagt, mit der X5 verwende ich eigentlich nur noch das MicAir bzw. die GPS Mic Remote, durchaus auch in Kombination. Die GPS Mic Remote speichert den Ton auch als Backup lokal in ihrem ~5.2GB Speicher, als 24bit bzw. 32bit Float. Am Kragen, mit leichter Rauschunterdrückung und 100Hz LowCut nimmt es beim Radfahren und auch im Auto meine Stimme sehr gut auf. Die X5 erlaubt dabei den Dual-Track Modus, bei dem die Mics der X5 auf einer, und das Mic der GPS Mic Remote auf einer zweiten Tonspur gespeichert werden. Diese lassen sich dann in der App bzw. Studio mischen. Die App / Studio spielt per Default aber primär die Tonspur des BT-Mics ab. In der App kann man im Album in den Optionen (oben links) einstellen, ob der Ton beider Spuren gemischt wieder gegeben werden soll. Aber auch wenn das nicht aktiv ist, kann in der Bearbeitungsoption der Ton gemischt werden. Das „AudioMix“ im Album gilt nur im Album. Kleiner Tipp, wenn Ihr die X5 so wie ich am Fahrrad (MTB Offroad) oder am Auto verwendet, leistet Euch den Mount-Frame von Insta360. Damit vermeidet man, dass alle Scher- und Vibrationskräfte auf dem Gewinde bzw. dem QuickRelease Part der X5 einwirken, sondern auf einen Vollmetallrahmen gehen. Dass ich die X5 ohne zusätzliche Adapterplatte mit dem QuickRelease Mount der X4/AcePro2 verwenden kann, ist für mich ein großer Vorteil. Das macht den Wechsel von der Klemmhalterung auf den Selfiestick, auf ein Tripod super einfach. Eine kurze Anmerkung zur Insta360 App. Ab der Version 2.7.0 hat sich das Interface der App gerade beim Bearbeiten geändert. Dafür hat man jetzt zwei Editoren, kann ohne Keyframes ein simple Reframing der Blickrichtung durchführen und so sehr schnell ein normales Video exportieren. Der Editor mit den umfangreichsten Optionen führt über den KeyFrame/Timeline Editor. Wem das aber zu verwirrend ist und das alte Interface lieber mag, der kann – auch in v2.8.1/v2.8.2 über die Einstellungen -> Über Insta360 -> „zur alten Version wechseln“. Allerdings sind dann einige neue Optionen nicht verfügbar. Die X5 unterstützt das Laden per PD-PPS (PowerDelivery mit Programmable Power Supply) und ist in 20 Minuten auf ca 80% geladen. Der normale mitgelieferte Akku hält 2400mAh, der Ultra-Akku 2800mAh. Mit dem Standard-Akku komme ich bei 8k 30fps ohne Nutzung der integrierten KI-Funktionen, aber der GPS Mic Remote, auf gute 1:20h Aufnahmedauer. Was mir an der X5 fehlt, ist ein Timelapse Modus, der Aufnahmen für GSV einfacher macht und kürzere Intervalle erlaubt. Aktuell lässt sich das Timelapse Video zwar in 11k erstellen, aber nicht mit einem Intervall unter 2 Sekunden, was 0.5fps entspricht. Technisch sind hier sicher Aufnahmen mit 2fps (0.5s) oder 5fps (0.2s) möglich. Ansonsten ist die X5 für mich eine rundherum gelungene 360° Kamera, die ich sehr regelmäßig nutze, und quasi immer dabeihabe. Ich überlege noch mir auch ein paar ND64 Filter zu bestellen, die aber hauptsächlich für Timelapse Aufnahmen.

Best sports camera ever had. Easy to use. No adjustment needed to get the right frame. All can be done in the 360 studio. Need a little bit of time to get used to navigate the 360 Studio, to do the editing. Once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze.
